I've come to believe that replay (in all sports) should be limited to 1 minute with replays only shown at full speed. If you can't see a mistake at full speed then it wasn't clear and obvious. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
This is exactly right. The replay was meant to overturn obvious bad calls/mistakes. It was not meant to micro evaluate every call. Overturn obvious mistakes. If not obvious, on with the game.

I would think the time missed to the knee injury is still at play. Maybe he just needs more court time to be sharp.
The two Tim Anderson recruits appear to be pressing and playing like first year freshmen right now. The Chester recruits are just playing ball with a lot of flow and confidence.

Since Kenyon has the North Crapolina Treadheels at #24 with a 5-4 record, it’s pretty useless.
Patience. We aren't quite to the point yet where preseason ranks have been fully excised from KenPom ratings. I think that's around 11 games or so.

Matthew Microwave Mayer

I was actually most impressed he didn't start heaving up heat-checks--he was hot enough that most younger players would have started doing somethin stupid after so many straight buckets, but he let the game come to him, and thereby, to others. Great win with lots of talented pieces starting to gel...
I was disappointed that he didn't put up some heat checks. Generally I don't like them but in Matt's case let 'em fly!

I'd like a red shirt. His value will be up exponentially as a healthy 5th year senior than a limping sophomore.
Nah. Redshirts passed with the paleolithic age. That's just the truth, not wishful thinking about the good-old days (which I do annoying engage in, so don't take this as criticism!) NIL, transfer portal, and something never discussed -- pre-college development is very very far ahead of what it was decades ago -- have change the issue of redshirting. That development is NOT complete (please note this, enthusiastic critics!). Nor is it a full replacement for proper strong college coaching (and yelling, ask Ayo). But entering freshman are much further along than in the 80s, 90s, 00's, teens. They just are, and anyone coaching at this level can see it.

So yes, I wish these young fellas (Bardo lingo, I know) could and would accept a bit more collegiate-level coaching. It matters. But the treadmill is starting earlier, like in other parts of our changing (you don't have to like it) civilization.

Does any of this sort missive make sense? Hope so

News flash! This is his last year. NBA will take his defense and the rest is gravy!
Yeah, Coleman is a serious NBA prospect. He has improved his attitude, and it looks like he will continue to work to get a handle on his emotions. His emotion is key to success (Underwood thinks so), but controlled emotion (flow) is key in this sport. He has made convincing progress in this regard.

At 6"10, with a good handle and fine passing game, high IQ (basketball or otherwise, I think from listening to him), range to his shooting though it needs practice, and strong defensive ability, he is a top prospect for the NBA. Could he still flop? I guess, but I think that is extremely unlikely. If I was an NBA GM, I definitely draft him in the lower part of the first round.

The rest of this season will reveal whether I should continue with my quest to become an internet NBA GM. :)

Yeah, I think criticizing the play much of four FRESHMEN playing key roles on a deep, talented team that is ranked as high as #5 in a national poll is probably nitpicking at this point.
Saying a couple of them are pressing a little right now and playing kind of like normal first year freshmen is not being excessively critical. It is just an observation. They'll gain confidence from experience. The other two are ahead of schedule.

Was not trying to put words in your mouth. No offense intended.

That being said, my point is that if they were playing at the level of even an average freshman, we certainly wouldn't be in the position we're in.

We are not in the position where we are because of exceptional play by Clark and Rodgers. I do expect they will progress and we'll be in an even better place. Meanwhile, Epps and Harris have exceeded my expectations by quite a bit.

Why is this true and accurate, yet oddly stated? It seems like you are trying to take a shot at Anderson or Skyy and Ty, but I'm not sure why?!

Though you aren't directly taking a shot, it comes off that way.

Um no… but then I was part of the Upstate 8 as well, graduating from Glenbard East. Obviously the red shirt applies if he isn’t able to keep up with the fast paced squad that we’ve assembled. We do need him and his good shooting and his hustle, if he is capable.

I think we just fundamentally disagree on what constitutes exceptional play by a college freshman given they are playing significant minutes (in Skyy's case, as the starting point guard) on a team this good and contributing. The fact that it's happening at all is exceptional. It doesn't mean I think they're all-B1G (yet?), but you get my point.

ETA - meaning, to some extent they're going to suffer in comparison to their teammates who are also exceptional in their own rights.
TJ, Sincere, Mr Epps, CoHawk, RJ, MM. Each one of those dudes has had one of -those- games this year where it's not freshmen-exceptional, it's championship level exceptional. That's tough to stand out from for anybody.

You might be able to make some sort of argument with Ty…

but to say Skyy is playing like a ‘behind-schedule’ “normal first year freshman” (whatever that is) who lacks “flow and confidence,” and has not contributed to our success is…

ludicrous…

This team as it is, is a top 10 team, and we haven’t even gelled yet. You add Luke to it and you potentially have a final four/title contender.

Even if Luke is only available for the BTT and March Madness, you try to work him in. He is our best 3 point shooter. Anytime somebody is your “best” something, you get them on the floor when you can.

a remote review will always be quicker. most are obvious if the ref is watching the game and sees it live from a good angle.
I think hockey has a good system partially for this reason. Toronto usually has an answer for the on ice refs pretty quick. The other part is getting a penalty for challenging and being wrong. Free and unlimited reviews are good for "getting it right" but not so great for game flow.

I think some sensitive people are reading a lot into a quip. Saying their play had not been exceptional does not mean they contributed nothing. Saying a couple are ahead of schedule does not necessarily mean the others are behind schedule.

That said, the 2 more highly ranked recruits per 247 composite and rsci have yet to meet high expectations and their recruiting coach was TA. There was talk one would be one and done.

The other two, recruited by CF, have exceeded expectations so far. All objective facts.

Why not take it as a shout out to Frazier?
