Cohawk is putting up generally better numbers than junior year Brian Cook while making all the hustle plays. Pretty hard not to love that kid.Cohawk is the heart of this team.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. He will be contributing before it's all said and done. I like his game.Rodgers just has to get comfortable. He will. Be patient.
Did you miss their backcourt cramping up? That should answer your questionAm I the only one who thinks that Texas defense intensity died off the more the game went on? Did we just wear them out?
thump thump hiccup thumpMine is still beating out of my chest! What a wild ride!!
Skyy may play in the NBA at some point and I hope he does....but it will not be next year. A lot of skills need a lot of work. But all it takes is a good attitude and hard work. He had 5 pts. that were all needed and 4 boards which is not bad for a pg. Players play at a level at both ends of a bell curve....every one of them. Some curves are wider than others. Tonight was hopefully at his very left end.Clark is not one and done. He needs some experience first and room to grow before he jumps to the NBA.
Thanks, Buddy.I believe it was.............

You know your team has really improved when they win and the fans still find time to complain about the officials.I know we did not play the cleanest game but I've never witnessed a game where the underdog beats the #2 ranked team and the announcers continually say negative things about the underdog and nothing negative about the higher ranked team being outplayed.
Everyone needs to remember these freshman are all in their first ten games and going against the second best team in America in the most famous basketball arena in the world.Skyy may play in the NBA at some point and I hope he does....but it will not be next year. For anyone still questioning, Mayer just confirmed this was the first game all season he felt he wasn't dealing with injury. I can all but guarantee that the back injury he was said to have been suffering from in the offseason lingered until now. If his back/neck was stiff and sore that 100% explains why he was moving around so slowly and playing so tentatively early in the season and why it looked like he "flipped the switch" in this game. The guy just wasn't healthy and wasn't playing close to 100%. Here's hoping he's through the worst of it and this is the start of the real Matt Mayer.
Cohawk is the heart of this team.
I really thought there was a deflection prior to hitting the backboard best seen from the camera angle taken from behind the glass facing the rim. The rotation on the ball changed ever so slightly. So, about that Hawkins goal tend. Here is what I saw:
1. Hawkins missed the ball when trying to block it (I saw no evidence that he touched it, including the ball not changing rotation).
2. His hand then hit the backboard.
3. The ball was on the rim/hitting the backboard at that point.
4. Is this not a goal tend? You can't slap the backboard when the ball is in the air towards the hoop and certainly not when the ball is on the rim/backboard.
I wish they would get on the mic and explain, like football (and now baseball). I suspect that was the final call.
Now, if he hit the ball, then there was no goal tend. But I saw no evidence of that.
He hit it as close to contemporaneous to it hitting the backboard as it gets. If the officials hadn't initially called it a goal tend, it would've never been overturn. Just a bad initial instinct by the ref but understandable in real time I guess. So, about that Hawkins goal tend. Here is what I saw:

Bilas summed it up, we looked dead in the water but kept fighting. Great win, I thought we were going to lose by double digits. This year could be special!

I thought the camera shot from straight above the backboard was the best angle and showed that he got it about 1 inch before the backboard. A very close call and IMHO a bad one.I really thought there was a deflection prior to hitting the backboard best seen from the camera angle taken from behind the glass facing the rim. The rotation on the ball changed ever so slightly.
I'd settle for following their shot for a better chance at boxing out for offensive boards, too.If that alien could mutate in the direction of boxing somebody out that would be terrific.
When Coleman called that timeout. I thought to myself. Maybe this just isn’t our day. But we overcame. That was insane! I feel like we had no business being in the game. Poor ball movement, tons of fouls, tons of turnovers. At one point, even thought they had given up. But then it all turned around. And OT happened. Just dumbfounded that they found a way to pull this one out. So encouraging going forward! Love these guys!
Based on the replay it looked pretty clear to me that the ball changed direction. If he didn't touch it, then yes the goaltend is correct, but I thought there was more than enough evidence to overturn the call and call it a clean block. Interestingly enough, this type of play happens all the time in women's volleyball, and my guess is if we had a couple of those refs reviewing the call, they would've overturned the goaltend with little question. Then again, that's what they're paid to do, so *shrug*So, about that Hawkins goal tend. Here is what I saw:
