For a guy his size and with his skillset, he does have a pretty strong handle. But he is the worst on the team of the current rotation in turnovers per minute played. In his defense, he draws more and more attention in the post now that opponents know he is huge scoring threat.

I think Dain is going to loose about another 20-25 lbs over the course of his time at Illinois and turn into a 2nd Team All-B1G post player before he is done. He has all the raw materials, just needs to keep working.

This is strictly my observation and opinion on Coleman…I keep waiting to see the Coleman of old and I unfairly expect him to prove every game he's not that guy anymore. He’s the leader, he’s the guy who does so many little things that add up to big impacts that don’t always include scoring. He shows his basketball IQ and maturity has greatly improved, yet he has to prove it every game. I’m so impressed with his level of play and at some point I have to accept this is who he is now. Am I the only one?

IMHO, Coleman is still maturing. Time and maturity will elevate his game. Once he totally matures, THAT my friend is his last season at UI. NBA will have come a calling.
I remember an interview with Ayo after a big win and he said “You guys think I get it easy? Coach went totally berserk on me in practice yesterday.” But he knew it worked and loved how it made him stronger.

When i was working for a marketing company in Chicago I was tasked with doing a focus group session with 7 B10 referees. They suggested that that they never go into a game with an eye on "jobbing" a particular team, unless Illinois is playing
Personally, I think the bad calls, no calls, questionable calls all balance themselves out across the span of a season.
News flash! This is his last year. NBA will take his defense and the rest is gravy!
He is so much more confident and he seems to have his emotions under control alot more than last year.
He doesn't force shots, but he is confident when he has clear look.. His calling card is D and a team offense facilitator.
This year version of Cohawk may be the biggest jump for a players positive mental state and mental control that I have seen.
Ha, his free throws are line drives. A little less oomph and a little more arc would do him wonders.

He has matured heeps since last year. That goaltending call would have ruined him for the rest of the game last year and maybe got a technical. This year, he just moved on and played his game. His maturity is the biggest upgrade from last year. IMHO.
I think it is fair to wonder. You always hope a player will mature and develop, but there's never a guarantee and each guy is on his own timeline. Maturity and confidence come with experience. The more he plays at this level, the more it becomes what is expected. He has a lot to be proud of, for how he has come out early in this season. His effort is tremendous, and he has consistently put himself in positions on the court to make winning plays. I've been critical of him on here in the past, I think justifiably so.
There isn't a lot to pick apart this year. He's put in the work, and it shows. I think it's safe to depend on him to play really well consistently. I guarantee it's what he expects from himself, or this type of growth wouldn't be possible.
Speaking of Goode....any recent news on his progress and possible return date?????
