Illinois 87, Ohio State 75 Postgame

#251
Since the turnaround season of 2019-20, Underwood's Illini teams have won by 12 or more in the Big Ten road games:

2019-20
#21 Illinois W 79-62 at Purdue

2020-21
#18 Illinois W 98-81 at Penn State
#12 Illinois W 81-56 at Northwestern
#5 Illinois W 94-63 at Minnesota
#4 Illinois W 76-53 at #2 Michigan (without Ayo)

2021-22
Illinois W 76-53 at Minnesota
#18 Illinois W 74-57 at Indiana

2022-23
Illinois W 76-50 at Nebraska
Illinois W 78-60 at Minnesota

2023-24
#24 Illinois W 76-58 at Rutgers
#14 Illinois W 88-73 at Michigan
#14 Illinois W 87-75 at Ohio State

Road Warriors, indeed! However, with 10 Big Ten road games per year, it shows how relatively rare it is to win a game by such a margin on the road, no matter who the team is. While the 2021 team winning HALF of its road games by 12 or more is truly impressive, it's also worth noting that this was the one season with no fans in the stands.

Point being? Great team effort last night, and that is the type of result you expect from a team who can compete for championships - both within the Big Ten and beyond during March Madness. We will need the same focus, physicality and execution (and then some!) for these road games down the stretch:

at #24 Michigan State (Quad 1)
at #81 Maryland (Quad 2 ... Quad 1 if they get to #75)
at Penn State (Quad 2)
at #11 Wisconsin (Quad 1)
at #60 Iowa (Quad 1)

If we can pick up 3-4 of those games, it will be an incredible boost to our resume.

Nebraska Basketball GIF by Huskers

Guarantee this dude could make a living just hustling guys at the playground. Looks like he might play a mean game of LOL but certainly not basketball.

LOL = a video game (for folks that don't know what that is)

My 7 year old son hasn’t show a ton of interest in watching games with me yet. Last night before putting him to bed he caught a few minutes of the 2nd half with me and it just so happened to be when Ty had the weak side put back jam. My son wouldn’t stop talking about how cool that looked! It made my day seeing my boy get excited over the Orange & Blue!

we had the same miserable experience, every couple of seconds the picture froze and to make it worse, the broadcast just stopped & we didn’t get to see the end of the game. Sure hope we don’t have same problems viewing the other 2 games. Not sure who thought streaming a confernce game on Peacock was a good idea.
I watched the entire game on Peacock. Except for a couple of flickers in mid game, I had zero issues. Maybe it depends on the quality of the internet connection?? I have a hyper speed connection , and I cannot remember the last time there was any buffering or any other issue. All of my TV watching is streaming.

Just don't make him if he loses interest. My boy just doesn't care about sports. He seemed to get into it during the 2021 BTT run, but it didn't stick. They kid just loves engines and clearly not interested in anything involving a ball and a net. But that's fine, he's got a different outlet than I do. (But if your boy does, that's cool!)

Wasn't willing to go through all ten pages to see if anyone else had posted this link. After being very p!ssy about the game being subcriber-only on Peacock, I found an amazingly well produced and comprehensive full game replay, with out commercials on YouTube

I only hope they pull together a similar replay for the Michigan and Purdue rematch, also restricted to Peacock. Because I ain't paying for two months of Peacock for the privilege of watching live.

No one is a bigger CoHawk fan than I am. I was delighted when he got teed up last night and Brad sat him. Teachable moment that will pay dividends if he learns to channel his frustration into quiet post-play fury instead of histrionics.
Agreed. It may even be better that he got tagged on a bad call...which it was...a total flop...but the message should be even clearer that you cannot control the refs...leave that to the coaching staff to work on.

People need to lay off Quincy. We don't need him going for 18 & 8 when Shannon & Marcus are in their bag. You're not gonna keep him off the glass for long, so he'll get back in the stat sheet. When DGL & Amani came in, Quincy was in their ear hyping them up. He was their commanding officer out there...that's the stuff that doesn't appear in the box score

Well, you know, CoHawk is relatively new to the game of basketball so he's probably still having to figure all that out. ;)
