Weren’t we literally top 10 in the country 2 days ago?

And aren’t we currently top 10 or borderline top 10 in every advanced metric?
Um….yes.
My post was sarcasm. Figured it was obvious. Apparently not.
The whole life coach thing….?
We just come off a Q1 win on the road and read criticism about every player….I just don’t get it.
(This post was not sarcasm)

We use Peacock app on LG TV to watch games, usually with no issues. However, if someone comes into the room with a phone that's also connected to the same wifi, buffering occurs. Disconnecting other devices from the wifi fixes it. And Visio TVs are terrible for streaming.

I’m floored by all the Coleman hate. Dude has been doing everything this year, game in and game out. He plays with emotion and that’s one of the things that gives him an edge in my opinion. Guys get technicals. It happens. I hope he comes out Sunday the same player we’ve seen all season!

I've wondered this every time he shoots a FT! Obviously, the improvement is amazing, but I wonder if he practices like that?? Maybe he was leaning back before and he is emphasizes not doing that?
IMO it is a rhythm thing. Probably practiced and working wonders. I hope it is called in a blowout game and not a tight game.

Agreed. It looked like BU said "I told you" to Coleman. I think we all knew a T was coming soon. Glad it didn't change the game.
In fact, Brad repeated that to him at least twice more as he was walking towards Coleman.

This goes double because it was the second time he got that exact call. How does key go from bullying CH and DD and flexing to getting thrown across the lane by a one hand swim move twice ? LOL

That said, not mad at the tech bc frankly ch should have already gotten one or two at least this year haha.
The post move flops is one of the problems in college basketball - you see it all the time, the offensive player is banging into the chest of the defender and if the defender stands his ground, it's not a foul - if the defender flops to the ground its an offensive foul. The refs are looking for if the offensive player has an unfair advantage from the contact and if the defender is laying on the ground he has to call something - so it's usually an offensive foul

Dain clearly chooses the path to hold his ground, Coleman mostly stands his ground, but sometimes takes a dive, you just need to be a smart defender and know when going to the ground will get you the call. It's not real basketball, but it's a fact on how the game is called - Coleman needs to just wise up to it and start playing the game vs. hating the refs for the way they are calling it

With regards to CoHawk tonight, quite frankly, I thought the call on him leading up to the tech was hot garbage. It was a really poor call. An actual decent ref would have let him vent there even if he was warned ahead of time or evened out the foul by calling the flop as well. That was a tech due to ref's ego from knowing he was calling a terrible game out there and didn't want to be showed up. Should never have been called.

That said, yes, Coleman needs to dial it back, especially towards the refs. That will lead to technicals being called, and he almost certainly should have picked one up in a previous game at some point. There are ways to talk to a ref about a call you disagree with in a far better way and that could even elicit some positive calls in possessions to come. I certainly agree he needs to control the emotional responses, but this one shouldn't have been a technical. The good news is that this happened to him in a game we won handedly. Gotta let the coaches ride the refs
Regarding the T on Hawkins, Bardo mentioned on TV that it was a "reputational foul" based on his overreactions in the past. Nailed it.

on edit: I should know better than to post before I've the entire thread. But if don't . . . SQUIRREL!

18/20 free throws
Tied for a season-low six turnovers and has single-digit turnovers in four of its last six games.

I seem to remember these two stats were of concern to many at the beginning of the season (including to me as well)

I’ve seen the +/- charts that show Dain is an outlier in a bad way, but I’m hopeful this game gives Brad some more confidence to play him, particularly against low post bangers, particularly when those bangers are killing Coleman inside. He’s a big body so he’s hard to move and has freakishly long arms so he’s tough to score over. Even just 5-10 minutes might be enough to take said banger out of their rhythm and give Coleman a break. Coleman busts his tail fighting for position and that has to be exhausting.

Also, I get the feeling that DGL is getting very close to being an on ball defender who refuses to be screened. Hopefully Brad gets the confidence to throw him in there when a smaller quicker guard is cooking us. Again not saying DGL needs 30 minutes a game, but just a few minutes glued to a guys hip can be enough to take him out of rhythm.

I understand we’ve got a great fastball. But we also have the pieces to make adjustments and throw curveballs when needed. And sometimes a curveball is what you need.

Some people just want to watch games on TV like we used to. FYI I’m not that old. Technology can be great in many ways like modern medicine but for many other things it ruins us as humans and is detrimental to our society.
Really? A streaming service is detrimental to society?

For those having Peacock issues.
Check your signal, check your equipment.
Cheap gear=cheap results.
I love the Illini, try and keep me from watching.
Have a great day.

Marcus has been so consistently good, whenever he commits a TO, misses a FT, contested layup or one of his patented 10-foot fadeaway jumpers (see NW), I think WTH...
Two years ago I asked a friend and former SIU assistant turned Saluki radio analyst if Marcus could be successful in the B1G. He said surround Marcus with great players and he would blossom even more because every part of his game is so strong and he has the ability to adapt his game even during a game. Man, was he ever right.

This board has so many head scratching hot takes (even after very solid wins), that it makes it sometimes difficult to decipher sarcasm.

I think one of my favorites: "we are nowhere close to a top 50 team right now" after Saturday's ugly game.

Those 2 things stood out to me also. Big improvement from early season.

Love this roster. And am already getting excited for next year. Keep thinking about Harris with a jump shot. He, DGL, Hansberry, TY, Goode and Dain will be a formidable line up along with the incoming freshmen and transfers.

No one is a bigger CoHawk fan than I am. I was delighted when he got teed up last night and Brad sat him. Teachable moment that will pay dividends if he learns to channel his frustration into quiet post-play fury instead of histrionics.

I too am a CoHawk fan. I like how his game has come along late last season and this one. I also see the issues. He goes through periods where he looses his focus. Robbie Hummel even mentioned it a couple times in the Indiana game. You see it all the time when he wants a call. Arms wave, tantrum ... You can call it passion if you want but refs don't see it that way. This technical was building because of his chirping. Hope he learns to show a little frustration and then move on or there will be more T's in his future. Fortunately, this one didn't hurt us. The next one ... I say this, but when he's on, he is a special talent.

Really? A streaming service is detrimental to society?
A streaming service or multiple streaming service's that allows me the opportunity to get more options for content I want to watch rather than being held back by the cable tv monopoly of years past is NOT detrimental to society or my little niche of society.......

For years I and everyone else had to pay enormous fee's for content that I never viewed or was even interested in....

Anything can be used in a negative way , but I am so old that I remember the big rotor box that turned our UHF and VHF antennas to TRY to capture content we wanted to watch , but were at the mercy of weather conditions and weak signals from tv networks.......

JMHO............
