A few player observations:
TSJ is our alpha, but he’s not back to
pre suspension form yet.
Domask gets so little credit from our fans for how valuable he is. He’s easily been our MVP and kept this team at an elite level!
CoHawk is an AA one game and head-scratcher the next. His passion is a blessing one game and a curse the next. After four years this isn’t going to change. Please channel the positive side for the tourney when we need it most.
Ty does so many different things well for us, but also has obvious flaws. I get the love, but he’s a liability sometimes. I know the “Ty is a lottery pick” fans can’t see this.
QG is obviously hampered by something.
LG plays hard and smart despite defensive flaws.
Harmon has great heart and effort and excels despite elite skills.
DGL is not Trae Young.
DD needs to put more effort on D and his tick will increase.
I’m sure BU doesn’t need my analysis to know this. He hasn’t been great at game adjustments, but he knows who needs to be on the floor.
Sweet 16 this year or this season is not a success(based on the past failures).
Wow, you’re clearly drinking that orange kool aid.
I’m pumped because you speak so highly of all the players.
Someone not in the know would surmise they are a top 10 team nationally with your glowing evaluations.
Im betting your a life coach.

Weren’t we literally top 10 in the country 2 days ago?

And aren’t we currently top 10 or borderline top 10 in every advanced metric?

That said, yes, Coleman needs to dial it back, especially towards the refs.
There’s a reason this particular GIF exists.

Never felt like this one was in doubt.
TJ turned the page in the second half and so happy to see it. Wouldn't be at all shocked to see him with another 30-burger against Nebraska.
Dain - helluva game on both ends.
MD - inevitable!
Ty doing Ty things (that putback dunk 😳😤)

Fun game

In all fairness then, we need to be inconsistent when it really counts (The Tourney).

Perhaps a lesson for Coach to talk to the team about hanging on the rim before-hand, instead of after.

I’d argue that Hawkins is our MVP and the most consistent player we’ve had all season, if you consider the defensive side to be just as valuable. He had an off night but off nights have been rare for him this season and that’s certainly changed.
This..idk why ppl are so thirsty to act like he hasnt been consistent

Before tonight he'd scored doulbe figures in 11 of 12 games, had nabbed 6 or more boards 9 of 12 games, has hit 2 or more 3s in 9 of hte last 12, gotten both a steal and block at least in 10 of 12, etc

With regards to CoHawk tonight, quite frankly, I thought the call on him leading up to the tech was hot garbage. It was a really poor call. An actual decent ref would have let him vent there even if he was warned ahead of time or evened out the foul by calling the flop as well. That was a tech due to ref's ego from knowing he was calling a terrible game out there and didn't want to be showed up. Should never have been called.

That said, yes, Coleman needs to dial it back, especially towards the refs. That will lead to technicals being called, and he almost certainly should have picked one up in a previous game at some point. There are ways to talk to a ref about a call you disagree with in a far better way and that could even elicit some positive calls in possessions to come. I certainly agree he needs to control the emotional responses, but this one shouldn't have been a technical. The good news is that this happened to him in a game we won handedly. Gotta let the coaches ride the refs
This goes double because it was the second time he got that exact call. How does key go from bullying CH and DD and flexing to getting thrown across the lane by a one hand swim move twice ? LOL

That said, not mad at the tech bc frankly ch should have already gotten one or two at least this year haha.

There is hope for Peacock. The feed from the Illini Women's win against Ohio St at home on Thursday Jan 25th was flawless.

Can't remember having an Illini PG who can do things TY does. Like take a ball in the paint and dunk or dunk a missed shot. In the offseason if he develops a 3 point shot he is very dangerous. He guards well, pass first guard, and his FTs are coming along. He is coming along well.
He doesn’t need a 3 point shot, all he needs is the confidence to pull up off the dribble and shoot . Once he gets his confidence in his shot the sky is the limit for this young man. Oh and by the way he will be in the NBA

This post makes you look a little silly, mon ami. It appears you are not in the know, because we have been in the top 10 as recent as last week. We have had a couple of stints in the top 10 this season. If we win on Sunday, there is a decent chance we will be there again. Illinois is good--great, in fact.

Would like this 100 times. Lag, lag, lag. Poor picture...and I was behind on the game, pausing and watching as evening activities allowed. Then with about 6m to go, they pulled the plug on the game and left me scrambling to hopefully find the replay. I did, to thier credit, but f peacock.
Wonder what the difference is. I had a couple of brief blurry pictures but otherwise good color and sound. My internet is generally good but not great with a Visio smart tv.

Stream worked pretty okay for me. I stream every game though, usually on YouTube TV.

There was a couple of stange video issues in the second half, but I'm no stranger to weird streaming issues. I've been streaming everything I watch for years. And I live in a rural area.

I love this current environment for watching sports. The fact that I can watch on my phone is awesome.

I love, Love LOVE having two freight trains that go DOWNHILL like Ty and TSJ. They look for Every opportunity to BULLY the other team. Not sure we've ever had that before...

I can imagine that the other team practices Hard getting prepared for them, but they still start wimpering when these two guys cross half court. And after the game, their opponents must spend an hour in the whirlpool, trying to recover... two raging BULLS...

I loved watching Ayo getting out on a break, gliding to the basket, almost always finishing with a basket or free throws. He was such a threat. But THESE guys--they're like Thor's HAMMERS, one in his left hand and one in his right! 6'6"- 225 monsters coming at you... the stuff of nightmares...

They play a different game, and I love that Coach U has unleashed them.

Oh, and Quincy isn't far behind...

Next year, we see a 6-10 foot jump shot-- then the next year, the three ball...

BULLY BALL!!!

I watched on Roku. First half was ok. Second half - multiple issues. And don’t hit the rewind 10 seconds button. I thought my tv might never work again. I have great signal and I don’t have issues with other apps. This is a Peacock problem.
Yes… the rewind button caused big problems for me on the Roku. I’ve watched other Peacock games on my iPad and had no issues with that. But on the TV with Roku, I rewound and fast forwarded at my own peril.

I agree with you on the foul call. It was terrible. Agree with Bardo on the T: it was a “reputation” T. Much-needed wake-up call IMO.

There was even a cut away to BU and he was smiling and saying “I told you!” to Coleman. Seems coach has been warning him it was coming and that he needs to stop challenging every call and just play.
