Illinois 88, Missouri 63 Postgame

LOL...BU giving deserved props to Illini fans in postgame presser. It helps to have the one of the top 5 largest...if not the largest...Alumni Assoc. in the world. And it is a basketball fan base which makes them passionate beyond belief.

Not sure how it compares to the Ga. football fans I saw fill the south end of ND stadium a few years back but both teams sure get a extra boost when playing on the road.

On the season this team is shooting 39% from 3 on 26 attempts a game. Plummer by himself is taking 8 3s a game and making almost 44% of them! Absolutely elite shooting numbers.

Also big shout out to Grandison who has quietly taken his awesome efficiency numbers from last year and has so far improved on them while taking a higher volume of shots. 13 ppg while shooting above 50% overall and from 3!

I love this current freshman class of Luke, RJ, and Podz. They are all true unselfish, hustling team players with solid basic skills, and it will be fun to watch as they continue to develop for the rest of their time as Illini. With them and the incoming recruits, Brad and staff are continuing to reload for the future.

We are creating a crazy offensive juggernaut that surrounds KC with dependable shooters.

Grandison might be my biggest surprise this year. He's stepped it up big time. I almost wonder if all that Hutch hype didn't put a chip on his shoulder.

Figuring out who to prioritize develop between BBV and OP? Between those two and CH we have so much potential for the remainder of this year and esp. next year. And we have a dangerous transfer???

If one stands back and takes in the Underwood era so far what sticks out? PLAYER DEVELOPMENT.

How much better is Kofi's game now vs. when he first came in? Better hands, better footwork, moving better, playing defense and added touch to the shots that need it. Compare Hawkins game this year vs. last. Damonte Williams is a far better player now than when he first became an Illini.

I am remembering players like Tisdale, Bertrand, even Malcolm Hill, whose games didn't progress much during their time at Illinois. I am sure some of you will have other / better examples of what I am saying.

Players get better when they play at Illinois. Some get so good they go onto the next level. Potential recruits will see this as well.
This will mean sustained success in my opinion.

Did you just say Tisdale and Malcolm Hill game didnā€™t progress at Illinois. Tisdale is 2nd all time in blocks at Illinois plus avg double digits in scoring I believe his last 3
yrs. pretty good for a 7ft kid out of class A Riverton that didnā€™t weigh 200lbs when he got here. Hill is 3rd in scoring all time at Illinois and got 600 rebounds!!!! He was a low 4 star ranked player!

Fun game, gotta love Kofi and the 3 point shooting tonight by Frazier, Plummer and Grandison. Frazier is not a bad point guard against a team like Mizzu, huh? The freshman guards did some nice things too, along with Williams and Hawkins.
