Illinois 88, Missouri 63 Postgame

Both Plummer and Grandison going to have a chance at the 40/50/90 club this year the way they’re shooting the ball. Plummer currently averaging it; Jake is slightly short on FT%. Pretty sure Jake was 40/50/90 last year, just didn’t have enough volume for it to be “official.” Shouldn’t be a problem for either of them this year if they keep it up. Both are just incredible shooters.

Just got back from game.
Fantastic effort and shot making by the illini. They made it look easy.

Most of the Missouri fan section/seats were empty. The crowd was 80/20 pro illini.

Great to see the team hitting on all cylinders. Fun win to watch.

Question for all those with intense hatred of Missouri. Did you grow up in southern or central Illinois? I ask because I grew up in Chicago burbs and, while I certainly like to win Braggin’ Rights game, I just don’t have the same hatred for MO that I have for say other teams like Indiana. I’d put IU, Iowa, Purdue, UM, MSU, any top 25 team, and any team Bruce Pearl coaches as teams I want the Illini to beat more than Missouri. So I’m wondering if this hatred was bred into people because of where they group up? Again, don’t get me wrong, beating MO is great and gets better each year.

I dont care if Illinois is up by 75, Payne needs to play if he is going to be on the team next year. He needs to get as many reps as possible. I see more fumbles than a bears game from 85. He needs alot of work.
Couldn’t disagree more. Dude was playing so poorly Brad pulled him out for Kofi with 4 minutes left in a almost 40 point blowout. Kid is legit bad at this sport and has little to no basketball IQ. Just because he needs a lot of work doesn’t mean he should get more minutes, especially when he’s a net negative at this point.

It was so much fun watching our Illini destroy Misery last night. Cuonzo looked like a deer in the headlights thru out the game haha.

Here's hoping Curbelo makes a full recovery too.

Let's keep winning!

I'm with ya. I just view Misery as an irrelevant rival. Their coach seems like a cocky loser who negatively recruits against us constantly. I remember a good amount of Illini fans were wanting Cuonzo (or however you spell his name lol) to be our next head coach. So glad we pursed Underwood.

I definitely agree that I despise IU, Iowa, Northwestern, Sparty, Fichigan way more than Misery.

I'm with you. They're insignificant on my hatred list

In addition to fans from the area I wonder if the amped up atmosphere comes out post game in the bars and restaurants and that plays a part . Even the Martin antics didn't increase my dislike.

I think the Braggin rights rivalry is really good. And while I do despise and LOVE beating our Big Ten rivals… the difference is, when other Big Ten teams are playing in the non -conference , I can root for them. I don’t think I’ve ever thought “yay, go Missouri!”

Ick. That felt bad to even type. I’m gonna go wash my hands

Don't want to be Debbie Downer but is he still penciled in as our starting center next year?

What happens THIS year in a tough Big 10 game on the road and Kofi gets 2 ticky tack fouls in the first 5 minutes?

In watching through the extended highlights, there is some really good offense in there. Excellent, quick and efficient ball movement.

My favorite part of the game was when Kofi got a late shot clock Shaq dunk with his left hand and then on the next possession he got it in the lane with only average position, and kicked it to the corner with right into the shooting pocket of Grandison for a 3.

I would guess Dainja, if healthy, will be our starter next year. I also don't preclude us looking for another Big in the portal. Schollies will open up as they always do.

If Kofi gets 2 quick fouls, you have Payne, BBV, and also Hawk can help there. We're deeper at C than the vast majority of college basketball teams.

Luckily Kofi doesn't tend to foul a lot.
