Can someone provide context for this stat? Gonzaga has had 20+ this entire millennium. Kansas too. Does this mean during regular season?
I think you are correct that this stat doesn't include postseason victories. In 2020-21 Kansas ended the regular season at 19-8, which would exclude them from this list.

I understand rivalries and the burning desire to crush all B1G teams. I am a huge supporter of BU and what he’s done. We are lucky to have him. Though I don’t post a lot, I can assure you my love for the beloved is strong.
What I don’t really get is why there is so much discord and hatred toward other programs and people. Sure, there are always legit exceptions. Bruce Pearl, MSU thugs, JH slapping and cheating, etc….
Yes, Purdue has had our number lately, but BS and TKR are terrific players. Really, really great CBB players.
Matt Painter is a GREAT coach and seems to be an even better person. If it weren’t Brad coaching our team, I’d take MP in a heartbeat. Class act.
I might take some jabs from this post, and that’s ok, but I will call it how I see it….
Great win last night!!!

It's just what fans do. It's not egregious or mean-spirited. It's simple. If it's your Lucas Johnson, Damonte Williams or Alan Griffin you love it and if they play for anyone else, they're public enemy number one. Do you really think other fan bases are speaking in glowing terms about Brad? Where's the fun in liking everyone you play against? Heck even the best hearted seniors hate the person who keeps winning bingo.

Did you hear all the crap TSJ had to put up with last year?

Yeah, it seems like they must be doing some interesting counting. I suspect they didn't include Kansas because they are sitting at 19 today. Of course they have at least 3 games left to play...

Yep, went there for my birthday lunch a couple weeks back while my son was at an archery tournament in Danville. They said they took it out during COVID and never brought it back. Made me realize how long it had been since I'd been there.
I live with the limitation of the side salad there. That place is primarily about taking me right to the brink of protein poisoning.

Purdue is a 3 man team. Even though those 3 are really good, hard to beat good teams 3 on 5.
I think their bigger issue is they aren’t the same team away from Mackey. They have a nice resume but when you take out the two home wins against Alabama and Maryland there’s nothing that points towards a top 4 seed team. Granted those things did happen to be fair to them.

(Just catching up on various threads and I see mhuml32 and the conversation re Chester and others in the recruiting thread. Sorry for similar redundancy)
Great post. I think part of it is our lack of a singular rival. Personally, I root against Michigan always in all things - partly because of arrogance, and partly because of personal experience at heart-breaking losses. Based on good-natured friendships, I also enjoy watching Indiana lose, particularly if it’s embarrassing. As long as Fran is at Iowa, I will enjoy their misery as well.

I generally root for all other BIG teams out of conference (and only root against Michigan in football). In conference, I generally root for underdogs or whatever helps us in the standings. But like you, I respect Painter a lot, and thought last night’s game was a classic that didn’t need or have a “bad guy”.

We still had an 0-11 stretch on 3s

It's mind boggling (and still worrisome to me) how low the floor is, shooting wise

However, I'm not here to rain on any parades, excellent win and looking forward to the upcoming week!
I made the same sentiment. We also started the second half 1/8. We still settled too many times, but our offense overall was so active cutting and moving off the ball. That's contagious and Tomi/Will are so long, it's impossible to stop that action.

Lots of good actions and movement on offense all game.

As an aside, I think Benetti and Raftery called a great game. They are well paired.

Benetti is the best great play-by-play out there and combines nicely with Raftery's good color takes and analysis.
Onions!

Illinois is the only major conference team to get 20 wins in each of the last 6 seasons. (Houston has done it but they weren't a major conference team for the first 4)
Update: Missed Creighton, who actually has TEN consecutive 20 win seasons and have been in the Big East since then.

So what? We ended the game with +37% on 3s. That means we also had a stretch of at least 10/16, ie +60% on 3s when it counted.

Thats just the variance of 3s.

I mean, technically they all count

The shooting has been a concern for a while now, and that's perfectly justified by the sub 300 rank in percentage coupled with top 5 rank in attempts

Again, I am not here to nitpick so challenge away, but I was merely presenting facts

Watching Will Riley grow up this season has been so entertaining. Some NBA team is going to be very happy to grab him, stash him and watch him develop into a star. Wish that development could be here for another year, but it won't be...and good for him.
Gotta give Brad kudos for an under-the-radar move given all of the big plays in the second half. We had the ball out of bounds under our own basket in the second half with only about 3 seconds left on the shot clock. He quickly subbed Riley in, the Illini got him the ball and he hit a quick turnaround jumper from about 15 feet. Also loved that after he came up with that big steal, he started upcourt full-steam ahead, 1-on-3...but he stopped, circled back and gave the ball to KJ.
I’m most impressed with his growth and decision making once he gets into the paint. Earlier in the season, when he would dribble into the paint you knew the shot was going up. He is now making great passes to teammates when the lane closes up. The game has really slowed for him and his overall talent has really started to shine.
