Shannon is a guy who was a role player at his former school, averaging around 10 points per game. Not highly recruited out of highschool, he worked himself into the superior tireless athlete that he is today. And, I'm sure that Coach had alot to do with his success, building a team around his break-neck speed and bull-like rush, his soft touch from the 3 point and free throw line. Not to mention his on the ball defense! In the 70 years I have been an Illini fan, there has never been an Illini player that can do what TSJr. does on the hardwood. His size, speed with the ball, ability to change direction at warp speed, his skill at finishing at the hoop, along with FT shooting and his % from the arc are a lethal offensive combination. When adding in his ability to effectively guard, stay with, and deter the opponents best perimeter player almost every game, I challenge anyone to name a player who comes close. There is no former Illini to compare him to, and I can't offhand think of any collegiate player I have seen.
It has been a blessing for me to witness his growth and impactful contribution to raising this team to a level that can compete...and beat...any other collegiate team. Sure, they can be beaten...and have...but I sure like what I have seen from them this year. For the first time since I can remember, they have played six games in a row at a consistent elite level. Now, they need to get a couple more against teams thought to be elite and prove themselves worthy of all the praise before playing their hearts out in the FF.
Hey, they were right, Rutgers was able to make it close for a bit.Hey where is the Duquesne fan that was in the pre grams thread? we ain’t Rutgers

Yes Shannon is obviously a unanimous first team all American but his off court legal issues were held against him. Actually he probably should have been national player of the year. There is no one better at both sides of the ball in the ncaa.Shannon is a guy who was a role player at his former school, averaging around 10 points per game. I would like to know 10+ players in America who are better than him.
His off the court incident must have kept him off the FIRST team; his skill and accomplishmeshments sure didn't...
Ive seen all of the great Illini since the 50's-- he tops them all.

Duquesne fan here. You guys are awfully confident. You might squeeze out a win, but win or lose I think you'll be impressed with the Dukes. Dukes would punk Penn State or Rutgers the way they're playing right now. 16-3 in their last 19 and the #1 defensive efficiency in the country their last nine games (9-0). Should be a good one.
He was right about one thing: It was a good one!@Rayrich, this you?
If we make it to the Elite Eight to play UConn, we got nothing to lose. So nothing to be afraid of. We give Goliath our best shot.I am VERY afraid of UConn... but let's worry about that when the time comes. We can absolutely beat anyone on any given night.

Lol! No worries! I wore it on the beach in Florida Thursday sweating my !!! off. It will be on me til they lose. Or til they win it all.I swear, if you don't wear that shirt against ISU, we will hunt you down!!
The goat! TSj got that mamba mentality in him. We aint doneColeman heard my message to him ... Took it to heart ... That's my guy ...
I did, and I need a shower now.For a good laugh, go skim the Penn State postgame thread. College basketball, baby - there’s nothing like it.
I agree 100%. If they play like this game, they can beat any team in the Country. The way this team is playing I'm not afraid of anyone
I was in Thailand in December, Watched the Misery game while there.Heck yeah. I’ve watched some great games from SE Asia before on biz trips. You’re in
