There was a lot of talk about the Michigan - Ohio State regular season game that went to OT was one of the best games of the year. Not that it matters for anything, but this game was probably just as good.
I think it was better, frankly. And it does matter, IMO. The OSU-Michigan game in Columbus was intense but this was so at a higher level. Felt like a late-round NCAA tourney game. But that's just me.There was a lot of talk about the Michigan - Ohio State regular season game that went to OT was one of the best games of the year. lol. I'm with u. I felt like I had an adrenaline dump from the point where OSU took the lead on Walker's jumper w/5 mins left until Ayo sank his FTs at the end of OT.Real proof of how excited, nervous and anxious I was during this game. Heartbeat peaked around OT time.

I am sorry, but isn't this the 4th #1 seed? '89, '01, '05, '21Illini have a No. 1 seed for first time since 2005

INDIANAPOLIS — Players on the Illinois basketball team still were cutting down the nets after a thrilling overtime victory over Ohio State in the Big Ten tournament title game when the bracket was revealed for the NCAA Tournament.
Led by All-American candidates Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn, the Fighting Illini earned the third No. 1 seed in school history and their first since 2005, when a team led by Deron Williams and Luther Head romped through March before they finally lost to North Carolina in the national championship game in St. Louis.
“Call me old school,” Illinois coach Brad Underwood, “but I think there’s nothing better than hearing your name and see it come across the screen. It’s awesome and to see it up there” — on the Lucas Oil Stadium video boards — "after such a hard-fought game was really special. What a great moment; what a great feeling.”
You are correctI am sorry, but isn't this the 4th #1 seed? '89, '01, '05, '21
I think he’ll probably still have enough to eatWarren just cost BU $125,000 by not recognizing us as regular season champion or co-champion.
Also, I think BU would collect another $475K, not just $250, for a national championship since he would also collect the bonuses for sweet 16, elite 8 and final four appearances along the way
The story says "a No. 1 seed since 2005". Not the No. 1 seed.I am sorry, but isn't this the 4th #1 seed? '89, '01, '05, '21
Inside the story, it mentions being a #1 seed for third time in school history. The story says "a No. 1 seed since 2005". Not the No. 1 seed.
I didn't go to the link. After I posted I thought perhaps I should have BEFORE replying. I just assumed since the title was correct the story would be as well.Inside the story, it mentions being a #1 seed for third time in school history.
This TEAMCurious - what's the 1 in a generation feat?
Kofi comes, goes, does not matter. This TEAM has given us a great ride and basically had toSorry - I can’t like a post that implies Kofi leaving is a done deal.
I'll start with 16 years ago.......37-2.This TEAM
leads BIG in number of wins
leads the nation in Quad 1 wins
closes season with 3 road wins against 3 top 10 teams
Wins BIG tournament
NCAA 1 seed
and
First team All American, probable HM or second team AA
Two finalists for major player awards
BIG freshman POY
member of all BIG defense team
find me another Illini TEAM that has done all that
and they aren’t finished yet.
Did you misunderstand the question? He asked whic team did ALL of this.I'll start with 16 years ago.......37-2.
Was very disappointed in the final regular time possession. Four players standing around waiting for Ayo to take a long, defended three wasn’t a good strategy IMO. Taking it to the basket or running regular offense much better odds.lol. I'm with u. This got me thinking about how little contribution we had from freshmen in 04-05. I hope this bodes for a better future.Did you misunderstand the question? He asked whic team did ALL of this.
We didnt have a freshman on all b10 or finish with 3 top 10 road wins. We finished with a road loss.
Dont think the guy is saying htis team is better just that its rare to have a list of accomplishments that he listed, and i think thats correct.

You can probably cherry pick a list of accomplishments for any of our handful of best teams and say that no other Illini team did ALL of this.
I was not real happy with the strategy at first, but it occurred to me the worst thing we could do was to run a play, put the ball up too early, and give OSU a chance to win following a miss. Standing around resulted in only a so-so shot, but that shot was taken by the best closer in the college game and it ruled out all possibility of a last second loss. Was very disappointed in the final regular time possession. Did you listen to Wally Szczerbiak's scorching hot take that BU should take the ball away from Ayo because of his poor decision making late? Guess Wally doesn't understand that Ayo is about 80% on those late in games. Was very disappointed in the final regular time possession. Here it is. Amongst the dumbest of dumb takes you'll see this MarchDid you listen to Wally Szczerbiak's scorching hot take that BU should take the ball away from Ayo because of his poor decision making late? Guess Wally doesn't understand that Ayo is about 80% on those late in games.
