The coach said he had been dealing with back issues for a while. That makes it even dumber that he flopped like that on to his back.

Honestly I have no clue one way or another and it's so hard to tell, even seeing the replay so many times. I was just being funny, really.

Guy is an amazing PG, but he definitely didn't have it last night. Could very well have been hurting and decided at some point enough was enough and had a seat.

Not sure how much they showed on TV, but loved how invested KJ was the entire game. He was standing between the coaches on the sidelines, on the floor coaching/encouraging teammates constantly, had to be pulled off the court by coaches at least once that I saw, definitely could not stand not being in the game. Enjoyed watching him and hope he's back soon!
I saw him hug Morez as if he was more excited than Johnson for the game he played.

Did Coach already have an idea of how good this team can be? Or is he just a bit surprised like some around the Big Ten are right now? Whether he is surprised or not – or we are – how the Illini have looked in these last couple games is a beautiful thing.

Roundball is a game where the pieces sometimes need time to mesh well together and guys find their best roles. This seems to happening quickly with this talented group. And to put on a show like this without 'Your Top Lottery Pick' not even on the floor? These guys just showed what they are capable of doing all by themselves.

In today’s ball era, rosters have to be put together anew each year now. If this group is any indication... the best news is not how good this group is together. The best news is that Coach and his associates are damn good at finding talent and putting a cohesive group together. This is important because this is what programs have to do all the time now if they want to be among the... Elite. Guys are here just in a short window now. Every game together together is special because next year things will be different. Seize the Day.

Finding guys right down the street. Finding guys from around the Nation. Finding guys from around the World. Finding guys who are – ballers.

A couple years ago the Illini had a guy whom Coach referred to as a Savant. And now it looks like the Illini have got another one (though he didn’t play vs. the boys from the Land of Mount Nittany).

There will be bumps in the road ahead. But this group is looking like they can handle what will come.

With each passing season... the hiring of the current Illini roundball and football coaches just keeps looking better and better.
Well said. Very.

On the replay, you could see Boswell's elbow hit Baldwin's chest. In the next couple frames, you could also see that it had no impact on Baldwin's chest. But Baldwin's head rocketed back. That ain't physics.
That's why he has the hair , so if he moves his head quickly the hair Flys around

Nick Anderson also had the million dollar smile--more times than I could count. IIRC, his actual given birth name was Nelison. But dpn't hold me to that.

Good morning brothers and sisters from a snowy Paducah , Ky this morning ..........The beautiful landscape here today, with me in the throes of a wonderful wake and bake was accentuated by me watching the scintillating replay of the zitteny lambs
disembowelment by the precision performance of the # 13 ranked Fighting Illini............I didn't listen to the audio of the game as I
had the Pink Floyd " Pulse " album playing in the background......It has been a righteous and delightful way to spend a Friday morning grooving to the tunes and being so impressed with the Illini's stranglehold of the zits by the beloved's defense.......

The Illini wore their big boy pants while the zits were stuck with dirty diapers the whole game.....the zits stunk up the game with their soiled panties and had the look of cowered down children.......it's been cathartic and very calming to me to watch this triumphant display by the lads and gives me promise of a nice winning streak at hand........

My only regret is KJ missed the game , but he sure seemed to be enjoying the game from his perch on the bench.........Could this game be an impetus to see the Illini elevate their game to the next level and become a Top 5 team ??......I give that question a definite thumbs up.....I really really do...........

pru's been like a kid on X-mas morning squealing and smiling from ear to ear........I can tell you all that this victory has been better for him than all the meds he has been prescribed lately........pru is truly a fanatic of all things ILLINI.......He really really is.............

This was a blocking foul. Boswell's small push was more reactive...'I'm going to get hit I better protect myself'. The defender ran in front of Boswell, and then over- reacted. However, Karma corrected the call with the injury to Ace Bailey on the flop.
I think that in football, that's a block in the back..

Anything that keeps this guy happy. We want him for four years.
I think the chances of Morez Johnson Jr. playing college basketball for 4 years anywhere are slim. My guess is that it will be 2 years at most. Maybe NIL inflation changes that. As to his remaining an ILLINI, my concern is how many bridges were burned with TA. My impression is that our IllinoisLoyalty Insiders already have been preparing us for unhappy news on that front. Sure hope that I am wrong and that Brad continues to expand his opportunities on the court on what eventually could be a Final Four Team.

Illinois Assistant Coach Tim Anderson Is Officially Leaving The Program Indefinitely!

Question? Did Ace Baldwin injure himself flopping on the first play of the game? Ain't karma a !!!!!??
Don’t think people are giving us credit for physical play. Knocking opponent on his !!! early sends a message. Bam didn’t seem too bothered by the call. Step in front of him at your own risk, it’s going to hurt.

Booth physically just seems to far away for this level. He needs to redshirt and hit the weights hard.
I don't think there's anything physical holding him back. He might be a touch skinny, but he's got tons of tools. It's all mental.

I watched how the offense flowed when Will was playing point, and when Bam was playing point. The offense is just so smooth when Bam was running it. When Will was at the point, offense kinda looked like a sports car with a manual transmission being driven by someone who hasn't learned to drive a stick.
Will needs time. That is a known.

What's crazy is that in exactly one month, Kylan and Will will be the same age (if only for a little while).

I agree. The kid has good physical tools. He started a lot of games last year as a FR, but now he's got three guys (Tomi, Morez, and Ben) ahead of him that are just plain better players. That's a difficult adjustment and it takes a lot of mental strength to keep a positive attitude.

Just came out…ESPN+ has KJ at #5 in their NBA mock draft going to the Hornets. Details below for those not subscribed.

KJ having to play beside/behind LaMelo seems like an absolute worst case scenario when it comes to the draft. Of those teams that are bottom-dwelling at the moment, I'd most like to see him on either the Jazz or the Raptors. Both have some clear runway for a lead guard. The Jazz would be especially nice given our last Illini connection there...

I think there's a good chance we have Morez 4 yrs. I'd bet his NIL money will surpass what he might earn in the developmental league. With his offensive limitations, I don't see an NBA future in his life.
