Illinois 94, UT Rio Grande Valley 85 Postgame

Not sure how we don’t look at playing some sort of zone going forward. At least for stretches of the game.

When healthy, Frazier/curbelo/Plummer out front with kofi/Hawkins back in a 1-2-2 or 3-2 looks like one route to me. Hides belo and Plummer but still protects the middle. Always old reliable 2-3? Can’t abandon man to man, but have to have other options we are willing to go to

In all seriousness, considering they’re down three starters and have had a different starting lineup 4 times this season, you just try and tread water and avoid bad losses until you can get healthy. I wish it was a laugher but here’s a few silver linings:

we got some serious work in this game on post entry passes.

Goode will be a great four year guy and has that leadership factor

Plummer looks to have found his stroke

Hawkins is showing flashes on both ends

Kofi plays within himself and to the maximum scope of his skills. He is composed and makes the right decisions most of the time. I saw to many players showing bad form on defense and oversll poor cohesion on defense.

Defense needs to be better...that will be addressed I can promise you that. Credit to UTRG, #1 was an absolute stud. Plummer was an awesome get in the portal, super underrated. Looking forward to having our guards back Monday. Let's get another W
Since you are in the know, can you explain the reasoning for not even sniffing a zone defense? It doesn’t make sense to me.

Kofi played 38 minutes, and BU’s preseason talk that Omar could play some 4 was wishful thinking.
No, it was just typical Underwood BS. I like our coach, but I realized long ago that much of what he says should be taken with a chunk of salt.

I know Thanksgiving was yesterday, but we can all be thankful we didn't start the year off with a tougher schedule.

Have we ever had one game where all the players were either not sick, not hurt or not suspended. Good Lord!!!

I certainly don't understand it. We couldn't stay in front of a guy to save our lives. Our offense wasn't bad, but our defense was horrible! Of Course, every time we did get a stop, a foul was called against us..... A couple of those calls against BBV were ridiculous!

I get that we're not healthy but Arizona beat this same UGRTVSXXX team 105-40 just recently.

Also, we have 103 turnovers through these first 6 games. That's more concerning than anything else.

The biggest bright spot is Kofi who is f***ing incredible. 8-11 from the line. Awesome to see.

We're definitely going to get healthy and we should all know that Underwood teams get better as the year goes on. With Kofi in the middle, I have confidence we'll be alright. Still, not exactly a fun game to watch
