One thing on D that drove me nuts is that at least twice Giorgi ran by the offensive guy driving in the lane to jump out toward his man further out. Both times the offensive player had his man on his hip and Giorgi was in a position where he could have helped and stopped the ball. In both cases the guy he didn’t help on scored fairly easy. That was one thing I thought Grandison did well — help stop the ball.

I'm definitely on the Curbelo train now--Even after a few games it seems his risk/reward ratio is now a significant net positive, he gets past the 1st level with ease. Still obviously getting used to long defensive helpers on the interior, getting swat away a lot down there (as is Miller). But he is a rare balance of being patient with the dribble while still juking guys left and right. If he can develop a short-arm floater from just inside the free throw line, and our spot up shooters can get to open predictable spots to receive his dish, this would be paralyzing for collapsing defenses. So fun to watch him...

No, it was not. Curbello kind of fell over the ball. You don't go for steals or fouls down 15 with under a minute. It's poor sportsmanship and totally Bush league.
Ayo's reaction was needed, and I'm glad a message was sent.
At the same time, did no one take issue or notice that he was also literally hugging Belo around the waist full contact with his other arm (I think it was his right arm)? This was before and during the reach/foul with the other arm. Is that not a foul to begin with?

College basketball has gotten too damn soft, two college kids basically just staring each other down and jarring at each other with not a single punch thrown and it took referees several minutes to look at a damn monitor and decide to toss one of the kids out of the game with virtually no time remaining! Ridiculous!

I was more impressed with Kofi's footwork on defense yesterday than in prior games. Thought he slid over to help stop the drive to the hoop, then returned to his own man more effectively than I've seen before. That was encouraging.

I have been super impressed with his offensive footwork lately. It’s like his balance has gotten exponentially better the last 3 games.

Wonder if Belo will be in the running for FOW. Same quality game Sat and good chance we have 2nd player with award.

Curbelo does have a floater inside the lane...used it in high school. He would either float it to rim or off to the side for a lob dunk. Maybe we'll see it a bit as the season progresses...right now he just keeps going til he gets to the basket

It wasn't the squaring off and jawing that got the T..it was the hard chest bump.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. And figured the second T on Ayo and T on PSU player were for trying to get back together after they had been separated — though PSU T might have been for not leaving court when fouled out. Though I agree with original poster that the amount of time it took checking the monitor was a joke.

It was this sort of play that made such a difference in this game over games that they lost. Grandison did it more than once. This clip (where it starts) actually has Grandison being active on 2 plays.

His play at 12:30 where took the missed FT rebound away from the PSU player was a pivotal moment in the game. We scored on that possession to go up 8 and never looked back. Good to see us on the right side of plays like that for once. We just need to make those a regular occurrence.

Only player in D1 averaging 20, 5 and 5...so far this is some 2010 Evan turner type stuff
Believe I predicted he would be second high rebounder. At this point not even close. However wouldn’t it be great to see Grandison challenge him for that stat?

And as hard as it is to believe, Kofi is averaging more points per minute played than Ayo. .685 points per minute to Ayo's .684, while shooting 68% from the floor. lol.

Also, 4 of the top 7 scorers in the country are playing in the Big Ten. What the hell is going on?

Yes it is a foul and it was called

I disagree and think the idea that someone needs to start an altercation which could lead to something physical (like in the KU/K-State game) just because of a slight or perceived offense is not acceptable. The Penn State player was being competitive within the context of the game. Maybe it was 'bush league', but so what? Rise above. Ayo overreacted.

It is not hard to make the bridge from the basketball court to the real world where similar overreactions might have far graver consequences than a couple technical fouls.
gonna be honest right now, making that bridge is a bridge too far. And frankly is out of touch with higher level athletics. Little kids sure but when you get to the college level, you are in a different world. Bringing up the situation with the KU/K-St is the vast outlier., and to insinuate that Ayo needs to control his on court behavior more to be avoid greater consequences in off the court is uniformed. Ayo has always behaved with class and toughness. I for one think he has been a true leader this year and last night was no different. I mean come on, no blows, no cheap shots just running over and getting in the guys face is gonna make a bridge to off the court problems. Not buying that. Those that are truly competitive at the highest levels have these type of altercations, most of them are much worse than that.
