DT is just about out of the question for a kid who is 225 pounds. As a DE, he definitely still needs to gain a substantial amount of weight. I wasn't questioning his leverage, strength, or instincts, rather just his fit as a D1 defensive lineman given his size.

He's a wrestler so he's isn't exactly trying to gain wait. I could see him playing LEO, SDE, or even a 3 tech. Doesn't seem to be the most explosive athlete but he has good body control for someone that size. Surprisingly good open field tackler. I'd take him

According to a few pay sites there are still good things happening. There just won't be any Our State, Our Team chants this year on Twitter

Any imminent commits?

Or just have offers out to some decent players?

Most likely commit at this point would be from a recruit who earns an offer during camp.
It appears most players we are heavily involved with, will be camping at numerous schools. So a commit would be surprising at this time, but you never know:shield:

I've actually talked to Royce several times about Illinois and he told me they haven't even contacted him.

That is surprising/sad to hear:confused:

OL Jacob Todora commits to SMU today. He was on campus for our spring game.
With Herman at Houston & Morris at SMU, getting the 2nd tier type of players out of TX will be even harder

How are we not in on this kid? It can't be grades if NW is on his list.

Thanks for the info. I had heard about the Jones commitment.

If Central Mich and UConn are on his list, does that indicate waning interest from the Illini staff, regardless of offer?

Just seems odd that with an offer in hand, he'd list two non-power conference schools over the Illini, that's all.

Get a paid subscription to rivals. It was Illinois's choice to back off. He was the third in a collection and once Watts went elsewhere Illinois wasn't interested anymore in a Phillips trio anymore

If this is a violation Dan, please let me know, I am trying to not post any critical pay wall info

The staff is OVERLY concerned about his size, imo
A playmaker who makes people miss with very good speed = exactly what we want out of our slot with all of the bubble screens we run & also as a returner:tsk:

100% agree. As the highlight tape shows, that kid can make plays. He moves like Ferguson in a lot of this film. He wouldn't be a superstar by any means, but could definitely be an effective slot and screen type guy in a couple years.

It's great to hear that Michigan State could lock up Josh King, Naquan Jones and Mike Panasiuk all this weekend.

The top 3 in state d-linemen all gone.

The Illini will never be more than a perennial 3-6 win program will they?

Missing on all three is disappointing but comes as a surprise to none. Not making it into any of their Top 5 Lists is the worst part. Hard to win recruiting battles for top instate talent when your not even in the running at the end.

Michigan State's got it rolling. The hope is one day Illinois can grab a special coach like Dantonio that can recruit and develop talent, and then also rejuvenate the boosters and fan base. Remember also he's been at Michigan State since 2007, so he's had plenty of time to work to his system and then put down roots.

Yes if Illinois only recruits the state of Illinois they will never be a winning school. Thank god there are 49 more states to recruit.
I have been pretty quiet on here over the last 5 or 6 months as my attention to other things have consumed my time. Recently that has changed and I have since taken the time to start watching tapes. Presently I have watched over 50 predominately on the offense side of the ball. Starting with none commits and as time allows I will eventually get around to as many as I can find for the now over 300 offers for 2016.
Since I have not seen tape on many dlineman have nothing to offer but this since I moved out of my native state in 76 I don't really care were we get the get the talent from as long as we get it. Yes I would prefer to do well in state as a matter of pride but first I just want to win.
Also I will start posting my take on the those we have offered some bad some very good and in cases a different opinion than those on the subscription sites.

What surprises me about MSU's recruiting so far this season is that Narduzzi is gone, and they're defensive recruiting has gotten better.

if they land even 2 of these 3 D-Linemen, their class will be ridiculously good. King and Panasiuk look very positive for MSU at this point.

This really is lining up to be a dream class for MSU. They're gonna get close to topping OSU.

Everyone at my office is talking about MSU's recruiting class now.
I hate being an afterthought :(
