I will watch his tape and post on it latter today and try to do a more detailed take on Simms, Thieman and Black as well.

Little disappointed as I was expecting more. He looks put together and can easily add 35-45 lbs. He is 6'6 215 from Mo. For me think Evan Wilson, needed to add weight tall an long like Palmer but could be a solid producer out of the te spot.
JeffJ mention split out wide, to me he is an inline te that because of his ht, length and hands would be a mismatch for db's. ' He is not really quick or fast enough to expect him busting big plays like either Eshoo or Gilberti. He is capable of being a solid 2 pronged inline te. Solid blocker and receiver. Nothing spectacular he is a low 3* 5.5 that could develop into more.
If can find the time I will try to post more on the other 3 commits.

What's the deal with merric jackson at Iowa western we going after him again or not
I have heard Illinois will not be able to recruit him anymore. Apparently won't get the grades. Unfortunate because he is a good player. Would have been a nice nose tackle for the Illini.

yep! I kept hoping that he'd get his grades in order, but doesn't sound like that's the case:tsk:

That's even more surprising. Usually our staff is one of the first to back off, if there are grade issues.

Maybe not if they think they can work with him and get him qualified, especially if they feel like backing him would solidify their position should his academic situation improve and big dogs come calling.

Well of course that's the way I would like to see it handled with some of these questionable academic qualifiers. But typically this staff has stopped recruiting a player once they have knowledge that there are red flags in the classroom

Just speculation, but maybe because of the job that the Beckman staff has done off the field (keeping kids in class, no rashes of arrests, having high character kids) they might be getting a little bit of leeway from the higher-ups?
