By the way while I have been a little lazy this year, this staff and the the seasons staff were extremely busy. I personally have reviewed the tapes over roughly 250 of the kids offered. While they have offered in the neighborhood of 375 to 400. For me that is a new high since I started following along and reviewing tape. As they normally rolled in a little over 300 a high of around 325, in the past half dozen years. :coffee::crazy:

Things are certainly picking up. Cubit added some coaches who look like they can recruit. Let's hope they have a few more tricks up their sleeves as we get closer to signing day!

Would love to see your scouting report on Holcombe... what are your thoughts?

How about Kramer as well?

Good pickup. Welcome, Kramer!

Welcome the the O&B Kramer Jr.

Worst case he is a kid who has a chance once he is an upperclassmen, and never hurts to have a kid whose dream is to be an Illini on the squad.

I'd say Kramer III

Love love love getting players from Texas and Florida. Welcome to the Illini nation. Illinois needs some athletes and TEs so this is a great fit. :illinois::shield:

Not to mention LOVE getting kids from the burbs. We have rich recruiting territory in our state. Getting more in state kids like Kramer helps spread our brand in our state.

The brief remarks on the last page pretty much cover it. Save this I agree with a remark the JeffJ made he does look to me like a big outside reciever. He would be a real mismatch to whoever tried to defend him. A red zone threat as well as end zone presently. Trying to hang 30 or more pounds on him and you might have another Pat Flavin.

Oh now that we have Holcombe I would not mind seeing Palmer decommitt for being recruited over. If we want another after that there are several we can stay on.

I agree, put 10-15 pounds of good muscle on the kid and use him as a pass catching tight end. If he's ready to go at the beginning of the season, it would be HUGE. WR corps doesn't have much height. Malik is decently tall, but Mays isn't quite ready yet.

I'd hate to see him go elsewhere especially seeing as he's from the St.Louis area. Only way is like to see something like that is if he's replaced with a much better prospect. The kid has great size at 6'6 and that can't be taught.

Tre Johnson

Rivals today removed Tre Johnson from our commit list. Looks like he visited East Carolina over the weekend.

I only watched a portion of the Kramer tape Kramer but I loved his feet, he had vvg quickness and burst, and nasty I am going to finish you and the playdesire. I think he gets the workout program to follow from the school and goes from from 274 to 289 before he joins the team next year. Red shirts a year and he is somewhere between 300 and 304 and has possibly moved to center from the quickness I saw, and someone to be reconned with. While I did not see him play any defense on his tape I would not rule out a 3 tech. maybe even a nose tackle.
Oh Kramer sorry about the suggestion to let Palmer know he should move on but based on his junior tape, we could do better no offense. Now if he has mad a jump on his senior tape that is different but I have not seen it yet.

Don't understand where all the hate for Palmer comes from. His senior tape is pretty good IMO

Don't hate the kid and if his senior tape his level of play improves I would be happy for him to stay. But presently if you want a big blocking te Soehner is better, if you want a receiver Williams is way better. Nothing personal just trying to upgrade the roster.

I just watched it again, I don't see a Big Ten player. His first step is slow, routes are clunky, and he catches the ball with his body. He is big but doesn't appear that strong. He doesn't overpower high school athletes and doesn't show a nasty streak while blocking. He is the definition of a low 2 star recruit to me. That is a lot to work on and you would be hoping he is ready to contribute as a Redshirt Junior or Sophomore but based on this Roster construction we need a Tight End that can contribute as a Redshirt Freshman or the scholarship should be used on a different Tight end. There is no hate. I just don't think he is that great of a recruit and there are others that are visiting that are better.

Watch the tape again, he has almost 0 body catches. I thought his hands were the best part of his game. His routes seemed fine to me for a high school tightend, and if they are bad thats something that can be coached up. I'll concede his first step isn't anything special but after watching Eshoo's senior film i really don't see much of a difference in their '1st step'. I like his size, and while he might not be gronk in the run game he shows willingness to block. I'd probably put him as a low 3 star. Don't see him as a year 1 contributor but after a redshirt year I think he could be a competent player for us. I would still love to land Soehner from Arkansas. Our lack of production for the tight end position has been brutal for a while now.

Jacob the coaches are making a statement without saying a word. According To Jeremy Werner the coaches are doing in home visits to Soehner and Trainer this week. Without seeing Trainers tape I can not be certain but they are trying to recruit over him. Werner said they would be willing take a 3rd te. 3 is a luxury they may not really don't want to do that or Palmer might have lots of company in his class if he stays. If you know him he should talk to see what the coaches plans for him and the position if take either of the aforementioned te's.

According to this Wisky is the favorite but you might say they are kind of biased. :D

I believe it was Doug who said we need to close the deal this weekend. Brodner had a great time at Wisconsin but seemed sincere so who knows but I believe that they better not let him linger past this weekend.:(

Soehner just committed to Iowa State.
