That being said, it will tike some time for him and the staff to learn how to recruit. The fact that they are in the conversation with top players is remarkable in only 4 months. You can't compare Lovie to Harbaugh and Saban as both were top college coaches before they left Stanford and LSU. Once he learn the ropes, success will follow.

Lovie

Lovie has been in the college game before, not his first rodeo. The majority of the rest of his staff are also experienced college coaches. It's not a matter of Lovie getting up to speed as much as him building relationships and catching up.

All early feedback is very positive, kids gravitate to the lowkey Coach. We're in on recruits the previous staff had no shot at.... this staff should close very well in crunch time of December and January. Watch the momentum build...

247 has Williams as an unknown/unranked player and Boyd as a very well ranked, huge, offensive lineman. Is this the sort of deal where we recruit both players because we really want one of them?

Agreed. Can't judge the class until signing day. For existing regimes, sure, judging a class as it's assembled, is fair game. With a new regime, not so much. Some fans' expectations are batstuff crazy.

Boyd is a 2017 recruit, Williams is 2019. So you can't put any stock into a lack of ranking for him, IMO. Way too early for much evaluation to have been done on him yet. Pretty sure we want both.

Sounds like a lot of offers going out today, lovie is hand picking these guys , not just throwing schollys everywhere. Been a while since I could say that.
