Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

Last year we only had 2 commits during the season. December and January is when you can expect a lot of activity.
The first two weeks of December will be crunch time for recruiting. Still several targets that will be visiting between now and then. The "Early Enrollment" signing period opens 12/14. Important date for some of our recruiting targets (i.e. Owen Carney) to start committing.
I keep seeing photos of R. Smalling, C.Green, and R. Robertson in Full edited Illini Gear poster.
Had me thinking. Offense wise.
OL Boyd and Lowe
WR Smalling Green Roberson
RB Epstein Bonner
QB Thomas
That group, which still needs a few more OL and TE. But this group would be a talent infusion to this team that we haven't had before across the board.
Obviously we would need everyone to stick, stay, and sign and add a few more. But I've been following Illini recruiting for 5 plus years now and that class group on offense would be something we haven't seen before.
Fingers crossed for hoping the best.

Eh, I think Juice, Cumberland, Jon Asamoah and Uh-Oh from 2006, or AJ Jenkins, Jason Ford, Mikel Leshoure, Graham Pocic and Jeff Allen from 2008 would have something to say about that.
It's at WR where hopefully we'll have a night-and-day transition, especially throwing Dudek back into the mix.
We need a other Uh Oh at TE
Agreed on both of those classes. But as terrible this sounds. 2006 was 10 years ago. God that made me feel old.
You say WR is the big transition.....but Epstein and Bonner I feel like are both highly underrated. Especially Epstein.
Throw in a TE and a few more big physical OL and this class on Offense will be a very good one.

I guess I have to ask why doesn't every in state player that ranks top 1000 nationally already have an offer, particularly one from Peoria
Old one was going to. New staff never saw him. So they wanted to evaluate but I dont think he came to any camps. Also wanted to play o line I think but everyone is offering as a dt.

both would be great to get but if I had to pick one it would be, Hafiz the kid hits people and that's something we really need. Blades is fast or sure looks to be and is real good size for a cb

Hope the staff is going strong for Glenbard West 2018 WR Alec Pierce. Kid is 6' 4", very fast, great hands and uber athletic. Currently reaching 11.5' on his jump. Major genes: dad played D1 football, mom was a D1 athlete, older bro was WSC Silver hoops POY and plays for William & Mary. Expect him to be 1st team all-state next year. Will be heavily recruited.
Blades looks like he could come in and be the fastest guy on our team immediately.

I havent even heard of those middle 3 recruiting him at all. It's seemingly always been Bama, Mizzou and Illinois.
Mizzou's Rivals publisher is saying that he is being told that that list is not accurate.
