I believe this is the plan for all our recruits I think the staff is more looking for 6-8 guys they think can play WR/DB 10-15 OL/DL 8-10 RB/LB/TE not to say we aren't looking for the best true LB we can get but I just think Lovie and all the staff are more into wanting to get the best ath they can get and then fit them into where they will help the most

Great point on positional versatility.

Exactly what the top programs do every year. Recruit some quick/fast athletes, some big massive guys, and some medium-sized tough guys. Roughly a third of each WR/DB/RB, OL/DL, and LB/TE/RB/DE. And then let it sort itself out.

As fans, we tend to worry about what exact position and on which side of the ball a recruit will play. In many cases it is fairly obvious, but in some cases you just have to wait and see.

At the end of he day you need to get a bunch of big guys and a bunch of fast guys and a bunch of tough guys and figure out where to play them. But, you need to be solid and deep at every position and this is one day to do it.

Robert from Illiniboard made a point that Zook used to do this. It was a great strategy except that Zook and his staff didn't do that good of a job of developing the players into the positions once they chose that position for them. Or they waited to long to find the player a position. I don't think Lovie will have that issue.

On De Andre .
First I could give a flip about what his teammates say I would expect them to back him.
Second come on racial slur, a, freedom of speech. She threw the fist punch, drunken idiot. Come on she could not land on me if you gave her a dozen shots, I am 68.
Third he did not have to swing period.
All that said would I take him has be based solely on what I believe based how he would act in the future. So since I have sat across a table from him I don't know. He would have sit across that table. Because everything that was said and done afterwards went to script. So if I believe him yes if not then see ya Felicia.

Agree with all your points. But I have a lot of respect for Lovie, his two coordinators and my university to see this situation not end well. We need talent, but we need to pass on this one.

Naa. I'd take him in a heart beat. Simple. As. That.

I'm probably reading too deeply into the tea leaves on this one, but I hope this commitment isn't out of concern of holding onto Epstein.

Bonner has unbelievable balance. He's like a weeble-wobble on some of those runs.

Just a good athlete, not a great one, but he does look to have good vision and looks to be executing his runs and following his blocking rather than just freestyling.

The guy he does kind of remind me of with his deceptive, low center of gravity slipperiness is Troy Pollard. Bonner is bigger though, and hopefully more durable.

I was honestly more impressed by the back from Beaumont. He seemed like a better athlete too so maybe he would have been more flexible positionwise. However, this guy cuts and leans so hard at full speed it's insane. And I trust this staff for sure.

Danny Clark de-committed from Ohio State. Not sure if that would upset the Cameron Thomas commitment, but might be something to look into.

He's pro-style, so not sure how he fits in scheme-wise, but it looks like Illinois had interest at some point.

I do not know our chances with him but he is just the kind of QB our coaches are looking for. he isn't a running QB but he can and will when he needs to and looks to have a heck of an arm. We could use at least 2 QBs in the class so hope there is still intrest on both sides

We might even take a third one if he is good enough. We are really low on running backs numbers.

talented RB's who have hands can always be made into flankers and RB's who are beefier can always be turned into nickle backs and safeties, and RB's who are just good at running can stay RB's.

Its a high school position , like QB, where real talented athletes are put. That doesn't necessarily mean you will be one at the next level

Runnin' Ra'Von Bonner!!! Welcome to the Beloved Orange and Blue!

In those previous descriptions, his style reminds me of Pierre Thomas, that dude had balance and great hands.

After watching this IF some how we could land him you have your QB for the next 4 years. He looks to have just as good as Lunt but does all the things we have yet to see Lunt do. He will throw it even if there is a guy covering , we will run it when he has to and he doesn't slide he tries to run guys over. He is so much what we need in a QB there is no way we get him

Bonner looks like a good pick up. Could be a grinder when he puts on a little more size. QB Clark reminds me of Tebow , good sized kid. The downfield blocking in that video clip was nice to see.

Agree with all this.

Running style and vision remind me of Ray Rice with less speed.

Even if they did, he would have much better options. It would be one thing if he was a Chicago kid or something, but a kid from CA transferring from Bama... No chance.

Plus he's a pro style passer.

However, he will transfer to a school that would otherwise be recruiting the guy that we end up taking. A quarterback carousel can only help us.
