Would love to see an offer for Nathan Hobbs out of Ky. Watched his tape and just flat does everything very well period. Impressed me enough for a high 3* rating 7.5 . Folks that is sniffing a 4th * He plays press corner a lot yet has the backpedal and hip flip you are looking for. Lil nasty loves to hit yet good routes, shadows well and will flash while letting you know he is there. Strong open field tackler that can play any type of cb you want as well as fs.

I'm with you on that one cali, I like Hobbs.

By the way presently they are on the trail of a number of good db's. A couple excellent ones but with a little luck just that they are looking for.
Sames is true at dt, additionally de thou not as deep for numbers. Lb's not so much only a couple 3 guys currently.

Yesterday I created a chart on the type of players the staff and Lovie are looking for by position. After beginning with current returning players then commits. Very interesting exercise. First my bad looking at de we do have a shot at more guys then I thought, 7 guys between sde and wde. Dt is a little thinner so I had it backwards as I see 5 guys, 2 guys for nose that can play some 3 technique I think and 3 3tech guys.
Devodrick Johnson though I do not have rated a nearly as high as Scout would be a huge get just on pr alone. Then there is nearly nobody else at the lb spots look like anything looking at us.
Finally on the backfield 6 cb's, 1 nb, and 3 safeties so pretty good group and one that would force me to rethink Smith and Adams positions.;)

I can't wait to see what Lovie can do in recruiting the next few years

Anyone know what this staff's plan is regarding JUCOs/transfers. Obviously Beckman and crew tried to fill depth quickly by going this route. Its been debated whether this is beneficial or not. Just wondering where this staff's focus lies.

I think we'll need some transfers for depth alone but IDK what the strategy is.

I think I can help you there Irish I have read this on either or both Scout and Rival. The staff has know a complete list of 5th year eligible seniors and will be prepared to act on anyone that wishes to transfer. They recently during the bye week and are currently continuing to watch tapes and )games of juco's for potential offers. Looking for starter quality juco's to offer at specific positions.;)

They got creamed by Phillips, the best team in the CPS, tonight 58-14 but the kid is still having a breakout season.

In the middle of it all has been Patterson, who has passed for 725 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 880 and 17 on 87 carries this season. He also starts at middle linebacker and can play on the defensive line or secondary if needed.
Patterson's recruiting heated up during a strong summer, and he has seven Division I scholarship offers, including from Illinois and Northwestern. He received his first SEC offer, from Mississippi State, earlier this month.

Does anyone know if Illinois is recruiting James White, the wide receiver out of Jacksonville. He is an old teammate of Megginsons, and is currently the new record holder for receptions in the CS8, breaking both Malik Turners receptions and the old record holder and present Illini Zach Grants totals? I have not seen anything about him on here yet, just wondering if they had an interest in him.

I haven't followed football recruiting because it's always been upsetting, but any well informed posters know what this years recruiting class is shaping up to look like? How does it compare to years prior?

:chief::shield:

According to 247 sports we have the 11th rated recruiting class in the B1G. This includes 12 commits (all 3 star players). In 2016 we were 13th, 7th in 2015, 14th in 2014...

He looks like a good player but if he doesn't have an offer by now he probably isn't going to get one. WR is one of the strengths of this recruiting class with Green, Smalling and Smith. Unless there are decommits or we can find an instant impact JUCO WR, we our probably done with WRs for this class.

I noticed that Iowa offered Kendrick Green of Peoria High. I never understood why we didn't offer him. He's moved up to #20 in the state according to 247, but an offer to him from Illinois probably means nothing now.

Peoria High has some decent '18 talent as well, but they all look to be leaning towards Iowa as well.

A Crystal Ball just went our way this morning for Alin Edouard, a JUCO QB originally from the Miami area who had a number of good offers out of high school, signed with Syracuse, didn't end up going there (for reasons the internet does not seem to reveal. Grades maybe?) and is now at a Kansas JUCO. He also has an offer from Arizona.

Here are some highlights

Doesn't look like his offense is asking him to do too much but he does flash a pretty powerful arm on a few of those plays with a decent throwing motion. He's got some wiggle as a runner too, definitely a fit for a dual threat scheme, although he doesn't look to be a speed demon. His footwork needs a lot of work too.

Get him in at the semester and go through spring ball and I would imagine this guy would give Crouch a run for his money. One to keep an eye on to be sure.

That would be a nice pick-up and he had a lot of nice offers out of high school. I have nothing against Cam Thomas personally, but he's certainly a project and I can see him moving to WR if QB doesn't pan out. We really need depth at the QB position.

Question- Who on this staff are we relying on most for their recruiting abilities? For Lovie and Hardy, this is obviously new. Was McGee responsible for recruiting a lot of Louisville's current players?

He doesn't start on his JUCO team, which begs the question, why not the KState transfer dual threat who plays ahead of him?

Anyways, offering backup JUCO qbs isn't a great sign for our QB future.

McGee recruited Florida and was responsible for L'ville getting Lamar Jackson
