Thad Ward, to like a crazy disproportionate degree. It's not good. We need 2-3 more Thad Wards.

Nothing against Ward, he doing a good job, but we need two Reggie Williams. Guys who been around and can pave the way, then all LOVIE has to do close the deal.

Wonder if there is anyone on the Purdue staff, or Notre Dame staff if that changes that we are connected to?

A Crystal Ball just went our way this morning for Alin Edouard, a JUCO QB originally from the Miami area who had a number of good offers out of high school, signed with Syracuse, didn't end up going there (for reasons the internet does not seem to reveal. Grades maybe?) and is now at a Kansas JUCO. He also has an offer from Arizona.

There was a problem with his high school transcript, at least according to this article:

http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootball/index.ssf/2015/02/former_syracuse_football_signee_alin_edouard_came_up_short_academically_mutual_i.html

Interestingly enough, he moved on from Garden City CC because they wanted to move him to Safety.

His stats don't look all that impressive. He's just 11 for 23 this year with -4 yards rushing. Not exactly a dual threat guy to get excited about, but we are desperate for depth at QB.

Harry Hiestand.

The OL has really improved as the year has gone along and you'd figure Butkus would be safe, but Hiestand is widely considered one of if not the best in the business and he goes way back with Lovie. (and Illinois, incidentally)

Second, you're spot on with Heistand. Arguably the best in the business and would be a fantastic addition. However, as you said, the running game and offensive line has been one of the few bright spots this year and Butkus has to get quite a bit of credit. Our offensive line has shuffled around due to injuries, we've played 2 freshman at times along with a sophomore and they have done nothing but get better, IMO. But again, Heistand is definitely one of the ones that would be very very difficult to pass up.

Anyone from Decatur wanna chime in on what they think of Tymon Scott from Decatur Eisenhower? Kid has Big Ten size and strength. 6'3" 260 lbs and runs a 4.6 40. With our strength training and diet regimen he could be the big back McGee is looking for. Could also be a monster on the end. He has a hudl but I don't kno how to post a link.

wonder if we have any interest in Kai Locksley. Spent a lot of time in Champaign as a kid.

Keep Butkus, Sign Heistand

Why not have both? Alabama has like 400 assistants (I exaggerate to make my point). Let's go B1G.

You can only have 9 proper assistant coaches. The other guys are pretty limited in what they can do in terms of on-field and working with the team, and they can't be off campus recruiting at all.

I thought he looked better as a D end than I thought of him as a running back watching the few highlights I saw.

I agree about your assessment. His first step is pretty slow in the backfield but if you can trim 30 lbs and coach him to be lower out of his stance he could be very good. I seen him against Chatham Glenwood knockin kids like tecmo bowl. Lol.....

Tymon Scott

Measurables seem intriguing but you really can't tell much at all from those videos especially since the clips only show him against the weakest teams in the CS8. I'd like to see some clips of him against Rochester, SHG, Glenwood, etc.

They just played Rochester last week and have shg next week so something might get added

Not sure I'd call Glenwood a CS8 power

How many recruits can we expect to sign this year? We seem to be a bit behind at 13 compared to others; which seems expected with the late hire of lovie and staff. Can we expect to get a full class in the mid 20s?

I wasn't referring to Chatham Glenwood as a "power" or on the level of SHG or Rochester. However, they are a solid program, large school with athletes, have been to a state title game in the last few years and overall are much more formidable than the likes of Decatur MacArthur, Lincoln, and Springfield Lanphier. As I said earlier I would like to evaluate Tymon Scott's play against Rochester, SHG, Glenwood, Jacksonville, etc....all programs that have produced high level talent on a consistent basis.

I watched em on TV against Glenwood and Putnam from Chatham was destroying everyone but Tymon Scott. They weren't lined up against each other much. I'm just saying he is just as athletic than others from this area who have played Power 5 football: Brit Miller, Moe Dampeer, Josh Brent from Bloomington, Jack Hockaday who is at Iowa etc... He is much more impressive to watch in person FWIW. Just hope the staff will give him a glance.

Just to clarify I'm from the area, and Glenwood hasn't been more than an average CS8 team in a long time. It's been 18 years since they went to a state title game in football. Not saying they don't produce athletes, they do, but a D1 football player from Chatham is not an annual or even bi-annual occurrence. They are more like Springfield High than SHG or Rochester. Its a baseball school with a football program.

How he would perform against SHG & Rochester is a much better gauge of his talent.

28 is what I'd expect. There is always attrition in football, without taking into account the Seniors who will not be here next year.

Didn't C-G make state like 5 years ago when Daniel Helm (who signed with Tennessee) was there?

24 seniors (can Caleb Day get a medical redshirt? Played in first two games)
