Makes pulling the offer of the other safety look even worse.
So we didn't get Cradieth, meaning we miss out on a player that could have played for us but still have that scholarship open for the next guy.
But it's a clown show because we didn't keep that scholarship occupied with a guy that the staff thought may not play? Proof of their new evaluation is that he didn't go to another P5 school, he went to North Texas. He very well may have sat and transferred his entire time here thus wasting that scholarship.
So, in my eyes, if neither Cradieth OR Davis were going to see the field for us (since Crad just committed to the suckeyes and Davis was not the right fit for us) it'd be better to still have that scholarship open right? And not occupied by a player that isn't right for us?
Seems logical to me. Big boy recruiting is slimy at times. If you don't want to see how the sausage is made, get out of the kitchen.
Oh, and then there is always the notion that we literally don't have all the facts and probably never will.
Appleton ended up going to Wisc where he lasted I believe one year before run ins with the police ended his career, returned to E St Louis where he has never been heard of since.

How does that happen honestly? Nobody ever saw him play or stand next to another person? Come on.
Appleton never went on an official visit to Illinois. He never considered going to Illinois. The rest of the narrative is pretty accurate.

Appleton never took a visit to Illinois. His offer was never pulled and a call was made AFTER the incident in Wisconsin about possibly transferring.

I don't care. Trust the staffs evaluations. Looks great on video. Good football instincts, fast to very fast, good tackler, fearless hitter....only knock would be a bit undersized.
