How long until we start getting rumors about the Trinity kids?

Side note: Who is the top nationally ranked kid we've ever had commit? Isaiah Williams from Trinity is top 30. Also ironic that his name is Isaiah Williams.

I don't know if he was the highest, but Benn was rated as high as 12 in the nation. Pretty tough to beat that.

Is Manuel Allen still making his decision today? I saw that Illinois picked up several 247 crystal ball predictions for him, but I also know he's committed/decommitted to several schools throughout his recruitment.

No, it's signing day now which means he has grade problems most likely.

Arrelious was #12. That was glorious.

Hopefully once Lovie starts winning, some of that level of talent comes back. Read somewhere that parents say he is the most impressive coach to walk in their doors. Kids just want to go some place where winning has been more current.

Can anyone confirm any other recruits that are coming to Illinois next weekend aside from MJ, Nikko Hall, and Merlin Robertson. Any chance Manny Allen comes?

What’s the update about Tolson getting early enrolled or not. I feel so bad for this kid. All along was expected to enroll early, did graduate HS early to do so.....now he’s in limbo.

Martez way ranked really high, too. That was a hell of a class even with all the attrition.

According to 247:

Benn #12
Martez Wilson #15

Melvin Alaeze was ranked #4 by one service and is listed as #20 by 247. He signed with Maryland but transfered to Illinois and played in like one game:

Looking through some of those Zook teams, it's crazy the amount of talent they had. There were NFL players up and down those rosters.

Take it for what it is worth, but Ryan Evans said Dayven Coleman was NOT signing with Illinois this Feb. Let's hope he is wrong

That would be disappointing. I was under the assumption that Illinois was the favorite to land him. I think Illinois had 100% of the 247 crystal ball predictions for him.

It looks like it may be awhile before they have a winning program which will keep the level of recruits at the current level.

Agree, however the talent Lovie is bringing in is better than we have seen in years past. If the defense improves even slightly, and Rod Smith's offense is even just okay. This team will start to win games. Not national championship level, but perhaps a 6-6 record, then hopefully 8-4. Then maybe things really take off.

College football programs take time to build. More imprtantly they take time to build correctly. That means grooming players, grabbing athletes, and picking kids who fit your system. Football is and always will be a grown mans game. Being 22 is wildly different than 17.

Getting guys like we are now means that if the coaching is up to snuff, we will have success down the line. Sadly, people want quick turn arounds (one reason Beckman failed so badly.) Might not be for a couple more years, but theres a light at the end of the tunnel.
