If Lovie was willing to take a chance on a red flag guy like Lawson maybe he would bring in Sean White (former Auburn QB dismissed for public intox)?

If we get him intoxicated maybe Sean would agree to come to Illinois?

Not going to happen, besides his growth plates are closed. Ooops, wrong message board.

I still think we are a long shot with Houston Griffith. He never really considered us. What I am optimistic about is Verdis Brown. The decommit of one of his buddies may encourage him to do the same.

Exactly. Yea this probably signals that Jimbo is taking the TA&M job. I would imagine Houston is going to commit to ND here soon (remember that deleted tweet of his..).

Hopefully Verdis opens his up too. Being able to land him and Avery in the same class would be amazing.

Is there a consensus on where Brown should play or where he wants to play? Or do evaluators basically think he'd be great on either side of the ball? Just curious.

Per my cousin, who I just found out is a teacher at Trinity Catholic, Lovie was there today. Hopefully to offer Cory Patterson a job!

Myself I hope he plays DL, I like our OL class a lot as it stands already, playing DL we would be landing 2 stud DTs who are monster size. Just getting him is HUGE since he will be here for spring ball

I wonder if Tito Odenigbo's transfer is related to an expectation that Calvin Avery and Verdis Brown are going to step into the DL next year.

Playing time is never (rarely ) guaranteed, depth is always needed, especially on the lines.

Tito would have been a senior, so he would provide depth, experience and leadership in a generic sense.

Reports on here is he was not the best leader, so scratch that facet of the list. So my guess is he was either done with football or was nudged for non-football performance reasons.

Of course I like your thinking better :D
