No sense in whining about the past, but I really think we missed a big opportunity in not going after PJ Fleck two years ago.

I'm guessing facilities play a part there too. Let's see where both programs are 2-3 years from now. Far too many people on here put far too much stock in recruiting rankings.

I'm not even talking about recruiting. I think he's a fantastic coach. And a guy built for and dedicated to the college game.

When it states“Walker is a full qualifier”, what exactly does that mean? Is U of I admissions that much tougher than the other four Big Ten schools mentioned? With all of the transfers we’ve experienced, losing anyone is a concern.

He’s eligible to play for any NCAA school that will accept him.

SAs have two hurdles to overcome: NCAA standards of eligibility and university standards of admission. For 98% of schools, reaching NCAA eligibility standards means it's a guarantee you'll be admitted by the university. For the 2%, there is a window where you could reach NCAA standards, but not the university.

So, we're in the 2%? What about schools like Notre Dame, Northwestern, Stanford, Duke? Or Wisconsin or Michigan, for that matter.

How do we compare to last year's class? Right now it looks like we are looking better at QB and O-line. But overall wont equal last year's class, especially at skill position IMHO.

Although he could be referring to the song, my guess is that a gang from littyville is committing.

Delano Ware jumped up about 800 spots on 247 recruiting rankings (and from 2* to 3*) after committing to Illinois. Interpret as you wish.

I think that tells you more about how recruiting rankings are determined. I assume most of the people that are doing them having limited football knowledge and instead rank most players based upon the offers they have received and what others have told them. That is not necessarily a bad thing but it certainly indicates why there are flaws in the system as well.
