Always great to see the alma mater dip into the CCL for talent. Congratulations to Evan Kirts and his family. I look forward to cheering for you in navy and orange.

6'5" 250lb

A LOT of chicken and pasta in this young man's future.

Lasagna?

This team will finally have a complete 2 deep next year. I think it's time to dip into 3 or 4 Juco guys and grad transfers that can improve that 2 deep immediately next year.

I'm not football savvy enough to know the answer to this, but at that weight and size is there an chance the staff doesn't bulk him up and he moves to LB?

Nope. He is an OL and will redshirt, lift weights, eat, and learn. Kind of player you see Wisky getting and bulking up. There are a couple of more similar to him I hope we offer. Just redshirt them and build them up. Take a couple like him every year, grab the highly rated guys when you can, but, take a couple of the type every year.

Thanks for the input. I just know there are holes throughout the linebacking corps, and wasn't sure if he'd be able to move there or not.

Nice addition. Butkus has shown the ability to identify under the radar talent on the OL.:illinois:
Great job to immediately move on him once confidence level dropped with Hookfin, who has blown up since we offered.

The problem with Juco, is we have a couple relatively small classes this year and next, we will need kids in this class and next in a few years, maybe you balance that with more juco in a few years, but I think we focus more on 1 deep holes at this point, if you don’t project them as a starter then go for a freshman.

I can understand your viewpoint. But if they could come in and start right away it would boost this team immensely. It's year 4 for Lovie soon and he has to win NOW.

Getting a grad transfer or Juco WR, LB, and DB would be phenomenal.

I know we are in on this kid. Originally from St. Louis, relationship with Corey. He would be a HUGE get IMO. Much needed at WR

LB - We got Milo for next year and he looks like a beast physically. Jake with another year of physical growth MIGHT be decent. But hard to predict him having a huge leap.

We are also in on Dru Mathis. He does not currently have a star rating but has offers from Neb, TCU and Baylor. His current twitter profile pic is him rocking the IL uni from his visit (I would hope that was a good sign)

DBs - I got nothing...
I would say the best way to help the DBs, is for the D line to get quick pressure, especially up the middle. Sophomore Calvin Avery and availability of Verdis Brown should make an impact. I would like to see some more quality depth here more than anything. If you look at the dominate defenses, they have a healthy rotation of players on the D Line. We don't. I don't know of any Juco DTs we are in on at the moment.

DB's are young and we are looking at least one JUCO there. There is another JUCO LB'er we have offered that would be a really nice get and that is Victor Viramontes. Adding a JUCO WR and three or four that would make the two deep and preferably start on the defense does not hurt us. I would take Victor and Dru both. No need to take a ton, just get starters or at least two deep help.
