Beason is a huge get in his own right, but he certainly will provide validation for any recruit considering the Orange and Blue. And that is HUGE.

IF we can get Isaiah Williams to commit in two weeks also, the two combined can be HUGE in building the momentum to get to be a top 20-25 class.

Wow, would that be nice

He will be committing on a specific date. I’m really interested to see what committing on not a specific date looks like

You knew what I meant... haha. I meant, is there a predetermined date on which he will be committing that he has made public. A date that I should be anticipating?

This gives yet another perspective on the argument that the five star ranking system is flawed.

I'll add it to the board

Do whatever is necessary for Isaiah Williams and Jason Bargy (metaphorically speaking). Also, find someone that has the moxie and is decently ranked to be the first commit and become the leader of the recruiting class.

We're at 95% with him. Two weeks until we find out. Go Illinois!:illinois:

I was told two weeks, no specific date. Tough being patient. :chief:

So add 14 days on to your original post puts us at the end of March. Let's say March 31st to give us a cushion. Waiting sucks, but March is a lot better than the end of the summer. I would hate for him to commit on April 1st...

Hopefully that leads to a 3rd Phillips kid down the road... a certain 4 star TE.

Werner basically said we have no shot at Billingsley. He already mentioned he wanted to "go away" to school. He holds offers from Florida, OSU, Penn State. You never know what can happen, just passing along Werner's opinion

Does anyone else think Shammond Cooper is a bigger get for this program than Isaiah? I know all the rankings and possible kids that would follow Isaiah here. But I just feel really good about MJ Rivers as our QB of the future and we are hurting at the LB spot. I want them both 4show, but I would be more pumped about Cooper I think. Just wondering if I am on that island

FYI Shammond just posted he will be releasing a top 10 this week on his birthday. Personally I am looking for a commitment not a top 10 at this point

Former Illini Jack Cornell taking over as head coach at his old high school (Quincy Notre Dame). Don't know how often P5 players come out of there, but still good to see.

I think you are on a island. Isaiah is an electrifying five star that we have not seen in sometime. Whatever position Coach Smith puts him at on the field will give us a threat to score. Nate, Pat, Hardy and the boys will find us some linebackers!

I get Isaiah is a phenomenal athlete, no doubt. If he comes here, which I think he will, he is going to play QB I think. I just look at it as getting a 5 star at a position where we just added some talent and Nate, Pat and Hardy has struck out at the LB position so far. But I get it though

Depth of talent is a good thing.

From what I read, mostly here, he won't be playing QB. I think he knows, expects that.

Also, I don't think he is a 5 star as a quarterback. He is a five star ATHLETE.

I thought it was said that we were recruiting him as a QB, which is one of the main reasons why we actually had a shot since nobody else is looking at him as a QB. I could be way off base. Just what I thought I remembered being said.

Illinois is recruiting him as a QB.

I think Cooper is one of those kids that would follow if Isaiah comes. The impact that Isaiah has in the kids who would follow is just to great. That being said, I see where you are going. Shammond fits a "need" at an individual position greater than Williams does at this point. I just feel as though an Isaiah will have a greater ripple effect than Cooper. Though would love both

That is 100% my point, need.
Isaiah = Much bigger impact off the field and will add more value than Shammond. I agree completely. All I am saying is look at our DL and now our DBs, we get a crew of legit LBs...whooooo! That is football I love watching.
