I'm calling it now, IL will have a recruiting class in the 30s in 2019.
This will be a result of Lovie's correction to the recruiting process with the early offers and better recruiters on staff. Add that to some more development evidence on the field, other than wins (cause we aint getting many), and the facilities upgrading.
It's gonna be fun!

Is this the same board who were writing Lovie’s epithet a few short weeks ago?

No. That is a post from Feb.

There were some people that were saying Lovie's time was done and he didn't show enough in his first two years. Many of us did and do think that Lovie is the coach for Illinois and can turn the program around. But most people on the board believe we needed to wait until 2020 to even begin speculating on how good Lovie will be as a college coach. I think most of the frustration has come from lack of information. I don't feel this way, but I think a lot of people on the board want more leaks and more information.

Some were standing on the edge when Minnesota got the 20TH ranked recruit from Illinois...

Expressing disappointment that Illinois lost out on JJ Guedet ≠ "standing on the edge". People love to distort any frustration for the staff as something much greater.

FYI, the 2019 20th ranked recruit from Illinois would have been ranked to the 4th highest recruit in Illinois' 2018 class.

Good morning. Happy Isaiah eve to all

I for one am not going to allow this negative talk about who said what, when, to bring this board down. ESPECIALLY on Isaiah Eve! Things are moving forward, let us as well

For those caring about class recruiting rankings (like me), it might be best to focus on the average rating score provided by 247 instead of the class rating due to the possibility of this being a smaller class. If Illinois can have an average recruit score of 85, it would put them on par with the mid-30's for team rankings. 86-87 is when you are talking about a top-25 class. Both the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes were in the 83's.

Even with a smaller class (how many do you think we will take?) this could be a top 30 class if we land some of these recruits that are showing interest.

That would be out-freakin-standing!

I think because of the blue shirts, 2 of them I believe, that is going to lower us. I thought I remember some talk about some wiggle room each year and I we used up our extra's last year we could have had this year???

A scholarship chart, like the basketball one would help

respect my decision™
Blue shirts i believe only count against the 25 man cap. So were at a 23 man cap. Doesnt affect much as i dont believe we were going to bring in a 25 man class.

Precisely. People I trust say the class size should be about 20 max. IIRC, we have 13 rides available now. Obviously, attrition is the big variable here. If things play out like we're all hoping, staff is going to have to make some hard calls. Great problem to have.

+1. Looking forward to the coaching staff having to make some difficult decisions in January about who to take.

I'd guess that Illinois' class will be 16-20.

Clearly they've got to know something to post that. Is there a time for the decision?

Sorry so off topic but I just saw the news about the Illini wrestler who was killed yesterday and wanted to send condolences to anyone who knew him praying for his family/friends

A chart wouldn't really help all that much , there is to many different ways to working around things and our staff seems to have learned them all. About the only thing you can go by is the Limit and amount of SR. but you can be sure we will see a lot of dead weight be gone again this fall. Do not be shocked to see a couple Lovie recruits gone as well.
