During my brief conversation with the coaches at Panda Express the word patience came up a couple of times.

I said you typically cannot physically compare an 18 year old with a 22 year old and the Trinity coach said it takes times and fans aren't patient. He said see that guy over there (how could I not, he blocked out the sun) well he weighed about 140 when he was 14.

With that the player turned around, the coach asked what he weighed. The player said about 300 pounds.

My wife who with me has watched illini football since the early 60s said "I've seen a lot of fat 300 pounders but he wasn't".

I get the idea behind this if Lovie is actually employing this method. I would argue we probably keep more of the impulse commits than we lose.

People severely underestimate sunken cost. A kid commits, gets extremely excited in a school, makes plans, etc. But nobody will ever know if this is true or not, just a thought.

I would argue that this is lovies best close. He isn’t a flashy guy and he isn’t blowing smoke up their behinds. This type of close secures the deal.

Very Nice. If I heard correctly, this was their "St. Louis" weekend and they plan on having an "Illinois" weekend in the near future?

I guess my head has been in the St. Louis/Illinois targets lately. If we are top 3, is that from left field?

I believe that A&M and LSU have a lead on us as of now, but the only other team that I think could be in the Top 3 besides us would be Baylor. Teammates with Avery and Myers, but I know his cousin committed to A&M

It could if he was bad mouthing FSU and not Miami :)

He was not bad mouthing anyone...The point is Devin went to a major university and he sounds as if he has a 6th grade education(not a knock on his character). Not really the persona a respected educational institution, nor its alum, would want to have.

Note: This was apart of a conversation about the difference in Illinois educational requirements compared to some other football powerhouses, like FSU and Miami
