I know I'm not supposed to look at those CB's, but we got some positive direction for Jahleel today. The details aren't showing but looks like the prior PSU pick flipped to and at least 1 new for us. :)

I heard yesterday he didn't take his scheduled visits to OSU and PSU spring games. That is a good sign

I take Jahleel to be committed. He may go somewhere else, but it seems to me that everything points to the direction of Illinois at this point.

I agree. Which is a HUGE turnaround for this staff considering he really had no interest in IL a few months ago.

I very much appreciate the recruiting momentum this Spring, and am very optimistic about the prospects for this class, but over the years I've learned not to trust any student's commitment until the LOI is received. Staff has to keep up maximum recruiting efforts up to and through Signing Day.

This is a great get. Thought that ship had sailed.

My only caveat is hopefully this isn't one of those recruits that is constantly jumping from school to school.

Don't worry, he isn't. He would've committed over a month ago, but we weren't ready to accept. Now they can all feel good about being in the O&B together:illinois:

Yeah I agree and he explained that decision to commit to ISU was more of an emotional one because he thought the staff was stringing him along but when he talked to dad and his coaches to told him to take emotion out and make the BEST decision. Also he wants to win for the state of Illinois and those are the kids we need to win good job staff

respect my decision™
Thompson is a good get. Someone pointed out that he would've been our 8th best recruit (on points) had he been in our previous class. Staff has a balancing act. As long as they thought they had a legit shot at Eric Young, they needed to hold off on Thompson. Expecting this to happen more frequently as our recruiting picks up.

He thanks Chris James. We had a player Chris James here. So is this an Illini connection?

So did another target of ours rule us out thus opening up the spot for Thompson?

Or did Thompson simply jump the gun when he committed to Iowa state?

Just my opinion: Illinois probably wanted to wait on him with others interested. Iowa State was willing to take his acceptance now so they pushed and got his commitment. Illinois, sensing their misjudgement on him wanting to commit and his proximity to important recruits (McCray + Billingsley) and important recruiting area (CPL), realized their mistake and pushed for him to flip.

Man this recruiting season is fun. Great to see these caliber of players wanting to rebuild Illinois. Welcome Mr. Thompson.

This.....and the fact that Thompson is really, really good! Welcome to the Illini Family, Joseph! We are very happy to have you in Orange & Blue!

To me as an outsider, it feels like Lovie has a process in place to gradually improve the program. Coaching, recruiting, and facilities seems to be all improving moderately. Wins should follow, I'm enjoying seeing the young player develop.

I think we will look like an improved team, still think QB is our Achilles. But at almost every position we should see improvement. See a big jump in the 2020 season.
