I spent a clip at Northwestern when they went from bad to decent. Hung out with some football players. Pre being decent they had "high standards"--record was dismal. They changed entrance standards for football players and boom goes the purple cat. Evidence--Football players told me.

With all due respects, that paints too broad a picture. Do we have real before-after numbers? For all schools we mention?

Blaming admissions for a student’s poor performance. Whoops. Is that like blaming the coach for missed free throws and bone head turnovers? I trust this staff to find someone, or coach up a player that will fill this gap easily.

He was on the Honor Roll twice. We sure there were not just credits that did not transfer over?

I have a hard time believing Illinois would accept Parkland courses and not University of Texas courses.

Illinois never has had that much trouble getting transfers academically eligible. Beckman took quite a few JUCOs and Lovie took lot of D1 transfers. Never any issues unless guys just wouldn’t be eligible anywhere like the QB from that Kansas JC who had left Virginia Tech. He never showed up here or anywhere else I believe. I’d guess Ayodele won’t be eligible anywhere if Illinois can’t take him so he may go back to Texas.

There are definitely classes that do not transfer. I looked into transferring to Illinois St after my SO year to walk on from a 4 year school and I had multiple classes that would not transfer. I was around a 3.0 student.

but class credits not transferring would not stop a school from accepting you in . it would just mean another semester needed to graduate .

Again, the university is run by a bunch of wanna be elitists who think they are directing the Harvard of the Midwest and that sports is just an unnecessary distraction. Unfortunately they do not recognize that our society associates observable success in things such as a sports program with excellence in general. Right or wrong it just is the case.

And this coming from an alum with two children who graduated from Illinois. Until the admin is committed to excellence in all facets of the university they will continue to limit the ADs chances for success.

If you don't have enough credits that are required to graduate in the time allotted according to the NCAA standards then you can not accept scholarship assistance. You can get in but not get a scholarship or compete until you catch up!

Would love to see if the staff can get involved with any of the recruits at Tennessee now that Pruitt is being fired (with cause). Nobody in their class from the midwest, no one from same HS as McCray, so nothing that sticks out. Hopefully Henry has been in contact with a couple of them and see if there is any interest.

I never understand this argument. The university has been run by several different administrations just since I graduated in ‘08.

I doubt those people look at Michigan and think “pass.” I won’t pretend to know how Michigan has been able to do it, but I doubt the powers that be aren’t interested in replicating it (or thinking Illinois is somehow above sports).
