So Ill
Here is the difference, Bret will get more from Lovie type recruits that Lovie did. I trust BB over Lovie any day
That is a given, and the part that most excites me about Bret. He’s going to be focused in the direction of the program and get results game day.

Some recruiting updates. Nothing too earth shattering.

A few more 2021 recruits Illinois is in on:

Trevin Wallace 4* LB- Auburn will be tough to beat still, but Bielema is going hard after him.

Cole Kirkpatrick 3* WR- Offered by previous staff. Very productive HS career and runs sub 4.5 40. Staff doing their homework. He is likely a take with how thin the WR room is.

LB I cannot name 3*: Not a big name, but is currently committed to someone else. Likely flip if Illinois wants him.

2022:

Danny McGuire 3* OL: Illinois is in deep. He is my prediction for the first 2022 commit. Will be after the final 2021 signing period I imagine.

Hank Beaty 3* WR: If Illinois pushes I believe he comes.

Rashad Rochelle 3* WR: Not going to be as easy as many think. I still think we flip him, but will take some work.

It will be interesting to see what happens with McDonald on the staff. Do they raise their sights immediately or try to get these WR's and go all out in 2022. Too bad Cooper already made a decision.

Well let us see how it shakes out in the 21 football season. You win against good teams the recruits will listen. As posters have been saying for 5 years or longer, "You win recruits will listen." The young man from Evanston would be a great start. Would love to see our 22 class be in the top 25 and in the top two or three in the west division. Win!

Alabama pitch: "You could be the next DeVonta Smith! 2021 Heisman Trophy winner!"
Illinois pitch: "You could be the next Arrelious Benn! 2010 second round NFL draft pick"

... yeah
You don't pitch being the next Benn, you pitch being the next Ade Adeyemo

👏 Man he had a rough go of it. Crushed by a concrete wall against UCLA at the Rose Bowl one year, then broken leg against Purdue the next. Something else I've always remembered: around that time, the women's basketball team had a forward named Aminata Yanni. She was interviewed in the N-G before a game and was asked "Do you know if you married Ade Adeyemo from the football team you could be Aminata Yanni-Adeyemo?"

... yeah
Or "You can be the next AJ Jenkins! 2012 1st round pick who played in a Super Bowl!"

Alabama receivers have nothing on that Résumé.
