Kutas, Allen, Mc-Cantos fit that bill?

Guessing Kutas, Allen, and Selah Brown are going to be high priority for the remainder of the recruiting season because of the needs on the defensive line. Even one of those guys would help relieve some of the burden. Mc-Cantos would be a solid addition and likely finish the secondary class (assuming one of the guys already on the roster or '22 recruits moves to safety) from the HS ranks.

Wonder if the staff is going to really focus on these handful of recruits and then just wait out the rest of the season and see about transfers/late bloomers/under-the-radar recruits. Could see some recruits have some late developing recruiting processes because of COVID leaving them as unknowns. Either way, I'm guessing the staff is going to be close to transitioning their focus on the upcoming season and waiting out some of the higher profile guys in hopes the season provides some optimism (or opportunities to sell immediate playing time).

Id love a brown and allen combo, kutas would help a ton too. Obviously d line’s the weak spot they should be addressing if not another secondary guy. Def have enough faith in the staff to get what they need.

I agree that they will get what they need. Probably not fast enough to make everyone happy, but we will get there. I hope we can keep the defensive staff together long enough to get there before they start moving up.

Look at the number of Illinois kids we have committed for next year. This is so impressive to me when you consider the short time period since BB was hired.

This is what we have got to do. Start here, and then moving forward we have to start beating out Northwestern for those local fringe 3/4 stars. If we do that, we are going to find ourselves doing very nicely against the Purdues, Minnesotas, and Nebraskas of the B1G.

A good long-term goal should be to start getting one Illinois recruit that is ranked inside the state top-5 every year. Would be a massive step-up beyond what's been achieved since Zooker's recruiting hot steak ended in 2009. Put AJ Henning as a redshirt freshman, Benjamin Perry (Mount Carmel - UL commit) as a freshman and Sebastian Cheeks as a commit right now and boy do you start feeling better about the talent level at two units on the roster.

There will be guys who will transfer or don't cut the bill. No need to invest all our money in recruiting rankings as these are high school kids. I will say I feel very confident in BB developing and building up 3 star players than any coach we have had in a very long time.

I agree. And consistently 50-60% of the Top 15 in-state players.

Aiden is no Rb in the big10. He is however a ball hawk. The ball finds him constantly and he also finds the ball!. And on top of that he is one of the fastest kids I've ever seen in track. I just saw him run a sub 11 in the 100 at state! he is 5 foot 10 180 pure muscle he will be a stud at the Illinois. A DB, all the way. Great pick up!

A 10.85 is moving and is probably faster than most RB's, although agree he is a little small to be an every play type of back

RB Aidan Laughery commits to Illinois
Another real good commit for Illinois. A kid that would have been ignored by Lovie and others… hopefully starts paying off even bigger in the future.

True rebuilds start with winning recruiting battles against teams you hope to become equals with … well done, BB and staff!

This is actually the most optimistic I have felt about the possibility of long term Illini football stability since the mid-Zook years. I was a big supporter of the Lovie hire, but I - like many - feared he might not understand just how exhausting rebuilding this program would be. BB just might have the energy and drive it takes on the recruiting trail!

GOD, what I’d give to go out with my friends on a fall Saturday in some Chicago neighborhood and know my team isn’t a Homecoming opponent! :)

WR Shawn Miller to announce on Saturday. A top 500 guy. Indiana, MSU, Arizona, W Virginia, and Illinois in his top 5. We would have an outstanding WR room with him at the top. MSU sounds confident, but no crystal balls yet.

No measurement tool is infallible but there is a reason that recruiting rankings is correlated with team success.
