I'm going to make this very clear. If an Illinois HS player still doesn't want to come here after all this, then it's all about ABI from here on out. How can a kid say no?

They can literally walk into ANY Illinois HS recruits living room and dare them to say no. Get on the train....or go somewhere that our train will roll over!!

What is the likelihood we are able to keep Walters?
I think it depends on what he wants.

I would not want want to go to a rebuild like Colorado. It is so hard to turn a program around and if you fail you may never get another shot

I also wouldn’t want to coach a program that has unrealistic expectations ie Nebraska

I think BB can be a good mentor and if the right job comes up no amount of money will keep him. He will be considered for a lot of jobs

Another shot at what? A P5 head coaching job like Colorado?

You guys are being ridiculous if you think he's thinking for more than 30 seconds about that life-changing opportunity. Bret would tell him to take it.

He already makes really good money. Once you fail at the P5 level it is hard to get back. BB had to prove himself in the NFL to come back to our program and that’s with all his college success

he needs to pick a program that is a good fit

He probably should take it, but I only questions his connections to build a staff to have success this early in his career. Who is his agent? Is his agent powerful enough to get him connections to succeed?
I wonder what the success rate is of assitants/coordinators who jump a ship and take a head job as to when they get the head opportunity within the program they are in.

His multi-generational alma mater seems like a pretty good fit.
Yeah, I’m more wondering if CU is willing to role the dice on him. Good DC does not necessarily mean good HC.

Depending on who they do hire, does anyone think that person could pry Walters from us for a lateral move?

A chance to help turn around your alma mater might be tempting. (For the right price)
