It hurts in the short term. I'm sure there are defensive recruits that now have questions. The long-term has significantly improved. Bielema has proof that being an assistant in his staff can earn you a P5 head coaching job. It's starting to get easier to convince other coaches that they can come to Illinois and extend their career, not shorten it.

90% of the class committed before the season started. Not a flashy class but a nice meat and potatoes group at the positions they got.
and remember, 80% of those arent going to help you much for 2 years yet. and then, you could lose 30% of your class to transfers out by the time of their thirds year on the roster.

judging recruiting classes by their high school senior ratings is obsolete. Its no longer valid.
Fitzy is a proven great recruiter and decent coach. Has had two not so great years in a row now, though. Lets see what he does these next two years.

Another CB for Pierce to UM unfortunately
Yeah, i'm thinking the only player that will to commit to us from here on out is Elzy. I don't know if Walters leaving had anything to do with this or this was his plan all along? Timing is interesting though.

Lot of moving pieces before it’s all said and done … I wouldn’t be so confident if I was a recruit that Harbaugh is staying at Michigan … If we wind up with Leonhard … I think Pierce winds up here … If Jyaire goes to Michigan and Harbaugh leaves … He would likely open things up again 🤷🏻‍♂️

Harbaugh has been having some meetings with Irsay and the Colts behind closed doors and I’m guessing he interviews at minimum … I can say with 100% certainty that there is interest on both sides …

so basically , it really just comes down to how much Irsay is willing to pony up

Oh Irsay will pony up for Harbaugh … He wants to win yesterday and has been disappointed in back to back years … Harbaugh does not want to work with the current GM Chris Ballard so Irsay would need to get rid of him as well … But the fact they’ve got that far in discussions says a lot …

Lots of moving pieces that’ll become more clear after the playoff … And maybe Harbaugh decides to stay at Michigan but it’s definitely no guarantee

I think it's a fair perspective for the remaining four stars. It's the tough business for being involved in 4/5-stars committing late in the recruiting period. Losing Walters definitely hurt for Hill and at worst isn't helping for Pierce. I've been in the position that getting two of: Hill, Elzy, Blackstock, Pierce, Howard, or Miller would be solid.

Any thoughts on how our QB search is going? The most recent lists going around of schools to have reached out to Leary don't seem to include us. I'm sure that we have, but with no chatter going in our direction is that ship starting to sail?
