So what is the over/under on new recruit commitments by end of April? With all these visits and the Spring game, I’d put it at 4 to bring us to 5 total for 2024 class.

And no I’m not an insider nor do I play one on TV or on Loyalty.

Fun experiment. I'll say under. Looking through 247 - Illinois got Feagin + Hayden in that last week of March but then things were quiet for April before commitments took off in May. My guess is April is slower because of spring practices/game. There's enough evidence out there to establish there are substantially more visitors now than previous years for April through May. Does that mean the staff is more decisive now? Aiming higher?

I'll say they add one commit in late April before adding 4-5 prospects the following month (May will be the measuring stick for the pay-off of the 2022 success).

In the new college sports, you know who is holding up Bret Bielema securing commitments from prep football players?

Terrence Shannon and Coleman Hawkins.

How many NILbucks is it gonna take to get those guys to take their names out of the draft? A lot, and hard to know exactly.

It's the same pool of money now, and it needs to be managed thoughtfully. And it will be tough for Bielema to have his needs get attention over Underwood's.

The good news is that Juwan Howard and Chris Holtmann and even Tom Izzo and Greg Gard to some extent have the exact same problem.

The times they are a-changin'

You may be right. I didn’t look at any historical data. Guess I’m hoping the good season last year plus what at least seems like increase in offers and visits will yield some earlier results.

im not quite that old, but sure... Earl Campbell, Jerome Bettis, Bo Jackson. i hear Marion Motley and John Henry Johnson were pretty big and fast
in the 50's.
Screw it, I want Jerry Rice, Don Hutson, and Randy Moss and then one of us could get 3 1/3 yards per carry

I think Bielema prides himself on development to an extent. He has a type of player mentality he really likes, and that does make up for some NIL discrepancy.
