You're right, I just wish it wasn't so (the lack of knowledge and / or caring in your early 20s), because it's not rocket science. I've got money still compounding in my 401k from 1991. And a Finance degree from UIUC, which helped.
Compound interest is among the most powerful forces in the universe. Over 32 years it's hella large. :)

Same here including the finance degree. My folks inability to manage their money and the difficulties it caused taught me a lesson about managing our family finances that served me/us well throughout my life.

Kudos to Mike Hopkins. Astronauts are some of the most impressive people we have to offer....here is an article about a tragic day but a great last letter and excellent read (including the comments) if you have a minute.https://jalopnik.com/doomed-columbia-astronauts-final-message-from-space-sti-1756450816

Just curious (if you can disclose the answer), are there any Illini commits Bret and the crew have to work extra hard to keep?

Oh yeah …

Schools are still coming after Valentine, Woodward and Pyfrom …

I know 3 coaches who will have top 15 programs this year that would take Easton Baker right now … Hartline at OSU texted me and asked about him … Lot of people interested there … His film really pops …

And you told him to back off, right?

He doesn’t recruit defensive guys …

Brian was asking about Easton because he was a name brought up in a recruiting meeting … He was just seeing what I knew, what my thoughts were, etc. etc.

I wouldn’t worry much about Easton though … He seems pretty locked in …

As for the Dupree thing … They took Dilin Jones and everything changed there … I really, really doubt he winds up at Wisconsin …

Which is weird, because they already had 1 rb committed, and Dupree and Jones were projected to Wisconsin. so, information was there that staff would take 3 rb; unless wisky staff told him something different or he didn’t ask but idk.

I wonder what illini staff told valentine…only rb or possible they take another rb? Like if another rb commits does it change his mind??

I imagine the staff makes room for Dupree if he wants to come. Valentine and Dupree are different types of backs, so I can't imagine they would impact each other's decisions. It would probably be more interesting to see what happens with Feagin.

Let's assume all of these potential rumors are true, this is the uncomfortable-ness of having certain recruits committed but still flirting with others. Valentine is already committed but would that change with a Dupree commitment (likely?). Does Knight still being a possibility mean the staff cools on people like Platt, who could then commit to another program? It also swings both ways (not that there's anything wrong with that!), where a recruit may commit to your program but wants a specific team to give him an offer. Finding the right tune to keep everyone happy is a delicate dance.
