Let's assume all of these potential rumors are true, this is the uncomfortable-ness of having certain recruits committed but still flirting with others. Valentine is already committed but would that change with a Dupree commitment (likely?). Does Knight still being a possibility mean the staff cools on people like Platt, who could then commit to another program? It also swings both ways (not that there's anything wrong with that!), where a recruit may commit to your program but wants a specific team to give him an offer. Finding the right tune to keep everyone happy is a delicate dance.

CB for Kevin Levy to L'ville. Not surprised it's trending away from FSU with all the WR/DB commits they have but can't understand why he would choose L'ville
Jeff Brohm got talented players to Purdue. Now at Louisville and their endless bucket of money watch out.

Lovie was good at character development. Let's make sure we understand character development and player development are two different things.

Lovie was perfect for what we needed when we hired him.

If only we could have done it for about a fifth as much money and for about a fifth as long as we had him.
Coach Lovie was the right man at the bad time for us IMO. Stability, facilities, and name recognition. When Coach B was hired, I was and still am extremely excited for our football program.

I'd like to think any coach could have satisfied stability and facilities. Stability because there was no requirement to win and facilities because that was JW and had little to do with who was coach. He did have name recognition, but it didn't benefit us in any tangible way as shown by his recruiting.

Jeff Brohm got talented players to Purdue.

Purdue's B1G recruiting ranking the past three years was 14th - 9th - 13th. He got a couple 4*'s but they were often Brohm getting a good QB/WR and then filling in the gaps elsewhere. He's always been a more developmental program approach at PU.

Now at Louisville and their endless bucket of money watch out.

Don't confuse past NCAA violations with brimming donor money. They aren't flush like most B1G/SEC schools, they were just idiots at hiding it.

Hahaha. No.

If the previous two coaches didn't convince that by no mean could any coach have provided stability.

Also, have you done a lot of fund raising without being able to paint a vision for the future worth investing in? Donations come with expectations, like it or not, so promoting Lovie's son to HC wouldn't have opened any wallets. It matters who the coach is.

At the time, hiring Lovie looked like we were punching above our weight, and that was vital to pitching a vision donors could believe in. I sure did. And I'll always view it as a missed opportunity.

Thankfully JW has replaced Lovie with someone who can actually fulfill the vision. Coach B is building the program I've always wanted. But he's off to a hot start because of players like who just got drafted. There was talent here to build with.

does anyone know if we are trying to land NU xfer Nigel Glover? obviously, that's predicated on several things, not the least of which is is there a ride available?

Whoa Whoa Whoa. I thought we shouldn’t pay attention to ratings/rankings — it’s all about offers, visits and film. So I’m assuming you checked all of those things for all of Purdue’s recruits during that timeframe. //S

Just busting your balls since it seems every time someone brings up a low rating on an Illini recruit that is the type of reply he or she gets. Certainly rating/rankings aren’t the end all and be all, but they do serve a purpose.

I will also point out that the OP said talented not highly ranked/rated. So Brohm taking more a developmental approach would still be congruent with bringing in talented players.

FYI, I don’t have any opinion about Brohm and his time at Purdue or his future prospects at Louisville.

IN THE NEWS TODAY:

As of 4:00pm today (Tuesday), I can just about confirm that we do indeed have a scholarship available.
I thought there were 87 scholarship spots, now down one with Curry leaving program. So one more player will be leaving?
