You think they are recruiting better than us?

By the numbers, after another high 3* commit today, PU has 19 commitments with a 247 average of 87.89

We have only 2 commitments (Griffin and Tuerk) with higher composite ranking than their average. While this is shaping up as one of UI's best classes in years, Walters and staff have been recruiting incredibly

Now, can he run a program? Gonna find out in the next couple years. He is taking advantage of Purdue's success relative to us in the last 30 years right now. Early recruiting results have been good for him.

I get it, but I have to interject against the "poor little Illinois" stuff whenever I see it.

We're just spending a much higher portion of our heavyweight NIL kitty on the sport our donor community cares more about winning recruitments for.

Of course Miami is also spending plenty on Instagram model rotation players for its WBB team, but, y'know, Miami gonna Miami
We have greater attendance and spend proportionately more on football than basketball. I suspect total donations are also greater for football than basketball.

A couple things….If it were all above table, I’d be great with it. Obviously it’s not.

Is it sustainable… I sure don’t think so because there are no rules except whatever each school wants them to be.

How does it get controlled…..only by congress at this point. There needs to be laws that will hold up in court, not rules made by a completely impotent NCAA.
It just seems to me a bit ridiculous that Congress and state legislatures are spending time on NIL. But you’re probably right.

hmmm ... LifeWallet that couldn't make its bond payments and had to negotiate to defer and "revealed in an April 14 filing that it had identified "material weaknesses in internal controls" in its accounting. The resulting errors were significant enough that the company told investors they could no longer rely on its financial statements ranging from June 30, 2022, to September 30, 2022." over promised purchase of receivables as scalable. Investors are not too happy with Ruiz spending their money on athletes when he cant pay bond interest. didn't think he would be allowed to continue signing LifeWallet deals
maybe Marquis will bounce to Illinois when Miami $NIL disappear

we do seem to have our fair share - I still think at least one of the existing frosh or one of these new commits will find his way over to a different position on O or D

I love how the article makes ZERO mention of NIL having maybe something to do with this
I mean , its pretty well known A&M is using NIL money in a major way , just like the U is

Hollinger is our lowest rated recruit on 247. Big upside guy?

Welcome Tanner.

Don't understand why Twitter is blocking views unless you are signed in. Bad business Elon.

I am surprised Purdue was able to put together such a strong recruiting class with a new coach. I wonder how many recruits we were recruiting we "lost" to Purdue. Only one or two come to mind.

What a pleasant change to have a 3 star recruit be our "lowest rated" and being able to ask this question.

It's tough to compare rankings from past years. Due to star inflation, these days, just about every P5 recruit gets at least 3*. If we're being honest, Hollinger is likely a 2* recruit if this was 10 years ago. Nowadays, everyone gets 3*

This tweet illustrates that effect:

Texas A&M is Alabama's "bitter rival"? I bet that's news to anyone at Bama.
yea
click bait I guess

UGa and Auburn and Tennessee surely qualify as "bitter" rivals to Bama
but A&M. Ole Miss. LSU & Miss St are simply just conference and formerly West division rivals.

but the complete absence of any mention of NIL is what really got me
