NFL drafts based on measurables and potential. In general, I'd rather be a UFA vs a low round pick - it greatly increases the odds of you finding a good fit
oh, I agree completely . The Brock Purdy story notwithstanding, being a 6th-7th round pick and having that work out like that is rare

So, the most important portal question for me is.....should I be more excited about the potential portal arrivals....or more depressed about potential portal departures?

Motion to use PPA and PPD going forward?

Everyone that I know of that’s entering the portal so far … Not a major concern losing any of them going forward … Wish them the best …
creates openings for portal additions and I think this staff has proven that they are real good at evaluation.
It's hard to win if you are playing a bunch of freshman and this team needs lots of depth as well as good starters

I love Reggie but I’m also very high on laughery and valentine, and feagin will probably be ok. Im glad his injury was just a shoulder and not something like an ACL
Feagin has Mikel Leshoure ability imo, if he can put it all together consistently. Depth is always a concern but I'm not worried about clearing some space for the young guns to run.

PPA>PPD = PPP(arty)

I have no scoop on the QB room. We haven't developed a QB in a long time. Tend to have 2 QBs start during a season due to performance and more so in the past year or two injuries.

Are the Illini going to add a veteran QB through the portal again or are they sold on someone stepping up in the backup role that is on the roster they have confidence in right now?

I appreciate what Reggie Love has done and wish him good luck on his next stop. As long as the next stop isn't in the Big Ten or at Missouri ;)

He’s not gonna get drafted if he leaves. He’s an UFA. NIL guarantees money that leaving for the NFL can’t
Ball security and straight line speed are an issue. That’s coming from guys in the NFL. He’s not really on anyone’s draft board

This is genuinely enlightening. The fan in me assumed he was tracking as a late round prospect, given his production this year.

The NIL dimension for athletes in his position is interesting, whether I like it or not. Athletes who can command guaranteed NIL money, weighed against some probability of NFL money.
