I guess WR is still an option with the portal. Still a lot of players left at every position in the transfer portal. We may swoop one up real late.

disclaimer: I don't know the exact number of slots currently available, much less the upcoming probable departures.

rides are a zero-sum game. we currently have very little wiggle room. I get the interest (VVG player), but given our priorities and schollie crunch, I don't see it. but, yeah, there are tons of good players left in the portal.

after getting burned last cycle (Avery/Auburn), I think staff is not going to announce certain guys until they're enrolled

I'll assume Illinois has 3-4 scholarships they can offer through the transfer portal

Best-Case Scenario
Bolden (WR)
Rusk (TE)
Mayes (CB)
Webb (IDL)

Has an offer from USC also. With him being from California that could be a tough battle. I get trying to replace Isaiah but I would love receiver with some size. I guess they’ll be counting on Bryant, Elzy, and Hopkins for that.
I suspect the they want him as much or more for punt returns which were a glaring weakness for us last year. Sounds like a small thing but think how different last year might have been if the punt returns were a an asset instead of a liability. Those guys are usually small fast receivers or corners.

I don't mind him on special teams at all. Also thought it was more for insurance in case IW does stay in the Draft. Slot option with Silas Bolden and Mario Sanders sounds much better than just Sanders.
