Yep, I started at UIUC when I was 17. Didn't turn 18 till November of frosh year. Drinking age was 18 and I STILL couldn't go to the bars (not that it stopped me)!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Hey, me too. Turned 18 on November 8. Bar entrance was not a problem. Heck, my buddies and me frequented Red Lion our senior year in high school.

Picking a top OL from Wisc is awesome. Much like getting Okla. The staff is putting together depth and some big guys. Games are won in the trenches.
Completely agree. If we are going to succeed we need to be able to play Bully Ball. Run it down the other teams throat and feed 'em seconds. Pair that with an aggressive physical defense and we may not ever be a top team but the upper half of the conference will hate seeing our name on the schedule and that's all I can ask for.

most of us just ask for a few basic things
- no stupid penalties
- legal smash mouth hitting on O & D
- don’t beat ourselves
- have a chance in every game we play

we won’t win 10 or more very often , but 8-4, 7-5 or even 6-6 can be tolerable if we at least are respected on the field .

While your premise is correct (importance of trenches), it's worth noting that UW has been recruiting at extremely high levels and chose not to offer the 2 local kids referenced here. I hope they develop well, but when we made a push for Jensen, Catalano, etc. they chose UW as they had the opportunity to

2022: Whitenack, Crisler, Moller, Okla, Leonard, (Adams)
2023: Henderson, Schuster, Leys, McMillen, Aamland
2024: Davis, Wigenton, Priestly, Dennis, Hansen
2025: Rousseau, McDonough . . .

Does the consensus think that the raw talent in Bielema's four classes is a notch higher than the previous four classes?

The previous classes:

2018 - Kievan Myers, Jordyn Slaughter, Reuben Unije, Julian Pearl - (two guys who never played at UI, one swing tackle, one long-term left tackle starter)
2019 - Evan Kirts, Josh Plohr (Richie Petitbon) - (Kirts is a depth defensive lineman, Plohr never played, Petitbon was serviceable for one year)
2020 - Phifer Griffin, Kevin Tyler, Blaise Sparks (Brevyn Jones, Blake Jeresaty) - (Doesn't get much worse than this)
2021 - Brody Wisecarver, Josh Kreutz, Zach Barley, Josh Gesky (Jack Badovinac) - (Good class, only Wisecarver was a bust)

The 2022-25 classes are likely better because the floor was so low. That said, we have very little information on whether the current staff's HS offensive line recruiting is good or not.

You're kidding me! My birthday in Nov 8 also. My old school ID (that had the birth date on it) was poorly made so the last numbers looked like they were 2 years older than actual. I guarded that ID with my life until I turned 21.
