at some point we have to catch up with where the talent acquisition game is in this sport. one place to start would be with the increasing number of unhappy colorado players that may be amenable to a new home.

my concern is that we hired a coach to build a type of program right at the end of the time when that type of program was possible to build in college football. nobody knew it would move this fast in that direction.

Yep, building a developmental program where you turn raw 3 stars into NFL Draft picks does not seem to be a good formula when everyone transfers every year.

This is playing out exactly as I feared, but I never thought Misery would be one of the chosen.

Maybe we figure a way to be mostly competitive, but it feels like the gap between the haves and have nots is getting wider.

That’s why it is unsustainable and I believe the B1G and SEC will change it. You have at least half the schools in these leagues in the same situation we are. Every pro sport recognizes the need to regulate transferring and leveling the money. Since college football is ‘going pro’, they now have to go all the way.

No one is going to want to commit resources into a program that isn’t winning atleast 6 or 7 games a year. The football program isn’t there yet. Whereas the basketball program has shown that it can consistently win 20 or more games a year, a couple B1G championships during that time and an Elite 8 appearance. 😉

I mean there's no guarantee this works out for Mizzou. Once all these bought players dont get playing time they'll be bought by someone else too...

I hope.

we need to cancel that series tomorrow

they are playing on a different level than us right now
Why? Even if we don’t win(which would suck), we will be competitive as long as BB is preparing us. Drink is killing it with recruiting and coaching, but our Illinois defeatist mentality will never get us where we want to be .

Can’t compare basketball and football. Football is a much bigger beast to turn around. Btw, did we forget the the 2007-2020 years of basketball and the two tournament wins we achieved.

You mean, once those 4* players get beat out by better 4-5* players?? Yeah, that will be quite the problem for them. I would love to be in such a predicament
