Hard to compare pff numbers when Brooks played much better competition. Regardless if he’s able to come in and compete for playing time that’s huge. Kaleb Patterson only played in 1 game last year and Canada had a hamstring injury in spring. So adding quality depth would be good so we don’t have to play guys who aren’t ready. Cox also has a younger brother that’s a 2025 recruit.

It will be interesting who the DT commit is. James has the physical tools but I wouldn’t expect much out of him for a couple years. Meyer is a one year rental but have a big impact this year. I would like to take both but I don’t think we will have enough scholarships.

At that size, he's limited to playing nickel on passing downs and special teams. So depending on how Chase Canada progresses, he might be our fifth corner/backup nickel
Sounds like Tyler strain?
247 showed he went in the portal last year, back to Ohio. Then went again early spring and again recently. Not sure how accurate.

Solid get, removes most of the burn from Tobe leaving. His play at Ohio was really good, but how does that translate to B1G? His size is concerning, which makes it interesting with him and Strain likely competing against each other and having similar weaknesses.

Brooks is doing more than competing for playing time, and he's not quality depth. He started for Texas in the College Playoff. He's our DB1 by a very wide margin and starting immediately. If he plays to his potential, he's playing on Sundays for a long time. Both USC and Michigan wanted him as a portal transfer and out of high school he chose Texas over OSU as a consensus Top 100 recruit. So yeah, he's not a quality depth piece, in fact, there's a good chance he'll be the best player on our roster this year.

I was saying Cox was depth

Size is concerning, but a two year starter for teams that won 10 games each is pretty darn good.

That post was in reference to Torrie Cox

Are waiting on another commit as well? I thought BB talked about getting a commit the other day?

We really needed these DB gets this week. Instant instant upgrades. Size is worrisome, but he's feisty as hell and I really like him if we're able to get any pressure whatsoever on the QB. Between him and Brooks, if we can get pressure up the middle and force quick passes, I really like our chances of locking up opposing receivers and laying the lumber. Now it all comes down to the DTs. If we can get some quality filling those holes, I think we really might surprise some people next season. This week in recruiting has really turned next season around from looking like a possible disaster to a far more optimistic outlook. All credit to the staff right now- they've beyond killed it this week.
