a fair amount of our incoming class received upward bumps recently by 247. our recruiting momentum is pretty good and picking up steam. hopefully, we can parlay that to a next level '26 class. gotta keep winning.
The biggest difference between our classes lately and BB (Before Bielema) is that we are finally starting to get kids that lots of other teams want. Multiple BCS team offers. That rarely happened under the previous regimes in the post-Zook era.

Get ready for negativity, or let's wait-and-see, town here!

Bielema could absolutely feel like the recruiting vibes are very different than any other point since he's been here at Illinois. I can't and won't dispute that, in fact I agree based on the visit history this season. Werner showcasing the proof because Illinois has flipped commitments from UNC (good)......and Western Michigan, USF, and Illinois State, is not the necessary evidence for such a statement. There's a lot of wish casting in this article, if Illinois gets Beerman and/or Graham, if the Clayton commit snowballs into something more for '26. Let's wait and see the sprouts grow a little more before claiming this is a bumper crop.

There were a handful of guys who got recruiting bumps but their effective ranking is the same as it was a month ago. This is the issue with 247 and their ratings creep. They get late signees to P4 programs that were unranked (Hirdes) or jump to bigger programs (Bama got another UNC TE signee the same weekend as Illinois but he went from ~750 to ~225 when he switched to Bama). But as a bunch of these players get jumped based on this right-or-wrong decisions, they are just falling behind and then jumping right back up as 247 continues to give players higher and higher ratings.

Going back to my Hirdes comment about how the services were varying wildly on his ranking

247 has him ranked around 700, ESPN around 750 (updated, was previously unranked), On3 around 1400, and Rivals at 2000+

Hello all,

Just wanted to thank you all again for voting for my nephew Brendan in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel player of the year poll. He came up short but he was one of only a few juniors on the list.

Happy to report he was named Defensive Conference Player of the Year for the Classic 8 Conference!

No problem, we are famILLy.
