remember , not all , but many of the guys entering the portal are doing so after meetings with the coaching staff and getting feedback that they were not projected to be high on the food chain , or little NIL was going to be coming their way .
I have no insight into Whitenacks deal regarding future pt or money
my guess is he moves to a program where he can start right away . maybe a MAC school or similar

Nothing surprises me, but it hurts our depth at a spot where we need more. Hopefully we can replace him with an upgrade.
To be fair, I don't think any of our opt-outs or transfer portal entries have been a shock yet, right?
I hope we keep it that way.

Not a big loss.
He hasn’t played since the Penn state game. The depth has been fine
He should be playing in the mac.

Ok, I don’t want to debate it because you know way more about the roster construction than I do. I know he hasn’t developed like we hoped. I just think we’ve been a bit fortunate on the injury front, but if he can’t step up in an emergency then he doesn’t need a roster spot. Seems like perhaps he was shown the door. Looking forward to seeing what the roster looks like by spring. Thanks for your input.

Look at the depth chart, anyone past two deep will look elsewhere. Wigenton, Sledge, Canada, Swanson.
I’d be surprised if Elzy stayed. If Feagin is asked to change positions, I can see him bolt after he gets healthy. I don’t know anything, just thinking out loud.

I really hope Elzy stays. I think he has potential, but hasn't had enough opportunities yet.
Maybe some playing time in the bowl game for someone like Zafir, or even Mangus.
If I’m the staff, I’d tell Elzy look at Pat Bryant. Stayed four years and ended up with a monster senior season that puts him on the NFL radar.
Elzy can definitely have a similar path.
The bowl game will be a good opportunity for Bret to see what he has for next year and what we need to take the next step.
We are very lucky. One of his best friends plays for the Illini at right tackle.
I would imagine he told the staff he was going to redshirt. He played the first 4 games in a reserve role and suddenly stopped playing. He’s a huge guy but he’s got slow feet and no bend.
Brandon Hansen would be the guy to play.
Rumors of a couple big time in state kids from the 23 and 24 classes hitting the portal. Would be interesting to see if we could get them in for a visit

Hope not, he can be big time. Bret needs to throw two more dollars his way to entice him to stay put.
Elzy isn’t leaving. He just hasn’t had a lot of opportunities but now he will. Relax and enjoy it.
