How does Luke know it was the coaches who were recruiting? At this point even some of the average players have agents who are looking for a bag (albeit small by comparison) by calling around and looking for a landing spot. Didn't Brett say he stopped taking calls from running backs who wanted to come? That had nothing to do with "coaches recruiting players." Playas gonna play (and play others and use agents). I mean Fickell isn't wrong, it's just that it's not unique to Wisconsin. I'm sure plenty of players on our roster have been contacted. They probably just believe in Bret's vision and see the signs of a winning program.
Wisconsin on the other hand has been pretty bleh under Fickell and firing a coordinator mid season and ending a bowl streak also have negative impacts. Not every recruit who was "tampered" is leaving just because they're offered money.

I would think so - Thompson and Neal are definitely starting and Big Tomi, Bray potentially others would be solid options at the other DE spot
I’m impressed with how quickly we’re rebuilt the DL, a couple of players didn’t play much last year but have a lot of upside and they are getting three guys with a lot of playing time under their belt. I think the floor is as good as last years DL
he should probably be involved in their future hiring decisions, would be quicker that way
