Just to point out an issue with PFF's grades, which I also use. Gesky's pass blocking was 63.4. Here are his game-to-game pass blocking grades.

83.2
72.2
82.9
86.0
13.4
47.6
65.2
56.5
76.4
70.4
44.2
83.4

That seems like an odd game-to-game pass blocking ratings to equal his season-long pass blocking grade. If you weigh them by true pass blocking snaps (non-penalty plays), then it's still unaligned. Going further, if PFF is calculating by opponent quality, whereas Gesky's 13.4 grade against Penn State is giving more weight than his 83.2 grade against EIU, then we are likely getting closer to his season-long number.

Now, for Gesky he allowed 20 pressures, 16 hurries, 2 sacks on the season. Half of those pressures stemmed from the Penn State and Purdue games (I almost want to re-watch that Purdue game because that seems like an unreasonable number). He either didn't miss a snap or came out in spells during comfortable wins.

This gets to the crux of the offensive line issue: I seem to like the individual pieces (Davis, Priestly, Kreutz, Gesky, and Henderson) a lot more than the sum of their parts. So what does that mean - Is that an offensive line issue? A constant flaw from Lunney's scheme? Trends from less practice time? Issue with the transfer portal and lack of familiarity with the guy next to you? An S&C issue?

WR remains at the top of the list of needs for next season. Curious to see who else they may be targeting (in the portal currently or not) as the first portal window closes today.

Bowick seems to be their X they would like to compete with Elzy but would like to see them bring in a higher profile/experience Z. Do not believe we have any connection to KC Concepcion but would be an incredible talent.

Our WR is fine but the offense was predicated on Luke and PB/ZF. Still see it trending that way next year unless the interior OL improves. On that note no idea how the staff feels comfortable with Getsky as a starter going into next year.
+1 for the avatar image. Love it.

Wow, hard to believe that it took ten hours!

While it feels great to see “overspenders” perform worse than us … at the same time, we don’t want to and should NOT be a small-budget school. We are not a small school, we do not have a small alumni base and we do not have a small state population … and I don’t think our potential donor base is less wealthy than most Big Ten schools’. I get it takes time, but we really should see a very significant increase each year if we keep winning.

Hypothetical Lineup:

LT: JC Davis
LG: Melvin Priestly
OC: Josh Kreutz
RG: DJ Wingfield
RT: Brandon Henderson

2OT: Brandon Hansen or Desmond Schuster
2OG: TBD
2OC: TJ McMillen

He was decent last year- ended the year with a PFF of 58.6 — 754 snaps. For comparison Melvin Priestly was at 56.4 — 767 snaps

Plus the continuity of having started every game - particularly if JC comes back, having a lot of snaps with the same guy next you should improve their play next year - the Crisler/Henderson spot was more of an issue last year
IMO thats an apples and oranges argument.

OT and OG are two different positions and Priestly is likely a guard if we had a better option at RT.

Either way adding OL talent to press Gesky's starting spot and potentially kick Priestly inside would do a couple things for 25 team.

1) Solidify maulers inside to improve what was an abysmal run game in early downs
2) Allow BH to develop into whatever he needs to be
3) Improves overall OL depth

Not going to get into a stone throwing contest on the best season in the last decade + but if BB wanted to really self evaluate areas moving forward its...

Is Bart Miller really the best we can do at OL Coach? Are we evaluating the right talent at the HS level?

I think a lot about Rutgers and how they improved their OL ... they hired Pat Flaherty from the NFL.

Doubt it... they like Henderson as a guard way, way more.

(1) But this is what I want!! [stomps off indignantly]
(2) If true, it's concerning the staff has moved every single tackle recruit/transfer to guard except JC Davis and Isiah Adams (should have stayed at guard). This past summer it even was "Crisler could still be a solid tackle but he's being moved to guard because Henderson has such a bright future at tackle", now it's "Henderson is probably a guard".

I can’t wait to see some of our O L recruits we have on the depth chart. Someone like Zafir Stewart for example. Maybe give Mangus a shot.

I would love to see Mangus be good enough to get meaningful snaps , but I’m getting resolved to just see him as our entry into the Worlds Strongest Man competition against guys with the same first name as his .

I was wondering this too and I thought I read that coaches are not allowed to contribute to NIL.
It sounds nice but big picture I don't want players to have to rely on coaches to pay them directly when they're all "employees" to varying degrees of the university. Not to mention at his tax bracket he's losing at least a third of his salary to the government anyway.
