The SEC schools have come calling …

Truly think this comes down to us and Michigan … And Art has put in the WORK on this one …

Trae will tell you personally … His best relationship he has with any coach is his relationship with Art …

I’ve also said the Michigan was the leader here but I think it is even now. It won’t come down to who pays the most. It’s a very smart family and they will go with the best fit.

I stand corrected, but in my defense, 247 is hardly ever wrong ;)

Agree that I wouldn't have much faith in just a single offer reporting, but I'll trust when the player announces the offer on social media and/or there's an written article where the athlete is talking about said offer. At this point the only way to believe he didn't have a Mizzou offer is assuming the athlete fabricated the story.

As has been said multiple times on this board by multiple people....WIN and the kids will come. We can't have past history repeat itself where after every 10 win season we had regressed to mediocrity (or bad) in a year or two after that. We have to keep getting to those big bowl games and winning or at least competing. I believe there is a difference now with Josh, BB and his staff, the culture, etc., and we will not slip back into that mediocre level. Next year is set up for the Illini to have a big year...again...let's do that and see what happens next. As a long-suffering, 50+ year fan, I'm as stoked about this football program as I ever have been.

Seeing Kansas #4 and us #5, made me think this was the basketball recruiting thread!
It is early, but the people who don’t know the job that BB and this staff are doing, should really pay attention.
For diehard UI football fans, like myself, that have stuck it out all these years, can see the great things that are happening with this program. We were blessed with the hire of JW, BB, and this awesome staff!

I'm pretty sure that most of us are in this boat. I've watched every game since 99, even in the gutter years (many of them). Minus 99, *01*, *07*, and last year...we've been complete :poop:. I'll give a shoutout to the 10 & 11 teams...for setting us up for heartbreak through Scheelhaase's last 2 years 😭

I know what you meant, just recalling my experience down in Martin County just south of Vero...the local nickname was Zero Beach (I was in Martin County after Cubbit had moved on to Florida & well before his second trip coaching at Martin County after his Illinois days). But no doubt about the talent coming out of that area of Florida. I remember Martin County having 2 halfbacks both averaging near 10 yards a carry & running in state 100 meters finals. Too bad they both were about 5'8" 160 pounds, but they could fly.

It's still early is an understatement of the year so far. Illinois average commit is 28th, as the other schools fill more of their class they'll surpass, but hopefully the foundation is there for a strong class all the same.
